New set of bias adjustable pedals from compbrake. Klint who owns the company could not be more helpful. I also got one of their catologs they do a fair bit for the leon/golf platform

Picked up a full set of Mk1 FR seats in good condition (and much better than my current seats), and the gear knob, gaiter and trim for £50! Bargain

It's not what I've done, it's misadventures and what we're going to do. Long story warning.
So my tdi was unlucky last week when an overloaded and unsafe van dropped a large log in front of us as it left the lights, there was a sickening bumping and crunching noise and a load of oil all over the road. RAC don't want to know because it's an RTA and the police weren't interested despite the van driving a quarter mile up the road safely out of sight before presumably stopping to close the tailgate, just to make sure I couldn't possibly get a reg. Got our van and trailer and left her down at our yard and ordered a sump.
That was the last straw for the van which has been losing power and smoking, injectors and/or pump (depending whose fault codes you want to believe) puts it beyond economical repair. RIP The Van.
Luckily in March we bought a petrol 1600 Leon for spares or repair, out of MOT since last November, so that's been sitting down at the yard ever since. She's now booked in for MOT this morning, but on inspection late last night the hazards and indicators stay on solid. Presume that's the relay, so now we know she can't pass straight away but let's see what else needs doing.
In the meantime Tdi now won't start, not sure yet whether engine somehow seized or flat battery. Battery was sound and well capable of handling sitting idle for a week, on the other hand the oil light never came on so hopefully not engine seized, figuring that out will be stage 2.
The yard is 10 miles from home and work is 10 miles in the opposite direction with no bus service and I'm a key worker. Better half has his motorbike so he's ok for now. If I have time I'll swap the relay from tdi to petrol before MOT time.

So we have 3 4-wheeled vehicles in the household and not one is roadworthy and legal, while all around the country millions of perfectly good vehicles are sitting around during lockdown. Isn't it ironic?

Hi guys,

I didnt want to start a new thread just to ask this but...

...i plan putting on my summer set of wheels which i bought and im confused will it all fit, what should i expect :/

I have spacers 20mm on all wheels ofc, car js on H&R red springs and the wheels will be (havent tried them yet, waiting for the tyres) 17x8 et35 with 225-45 rubber.

So, 17x8 225-45 offset 35 with 20mm spacers...? Will it rub? Ita basically a ET15 17x8
Would imagine ET15 will rub like a bugger

Not good, hope you get some wheels going.
It’s a pity you didn’t have a dash cam.
Thanks Long Joan Silver as she will now be known is having bushes done and assess what's needed on the brakes, pads as a minimum possibly more, and assorted bulbs, headlamp aim, that sort of thing.
More irony ... I bought a dash cam about a year ago but couldn't get the memory card to go in, then for some reason I think insurance we decided that when we got around to getting it sorted it would be installed in the van. Oh yes, if ifs and ands were pots and pans there'd be no work for tinkers!

Here it is...
17x8 et35 with 20mm spacers.
Doesnt rub believe it or not but i will cut spacers for 10mm so it will be et25, i guess thats all it needs.

Question, how did you know your manifold was cracked?

Sounded like a Diesel engine until the car got to warmed up temperatures. It’s a pretty common sound, just YouTube exhaust leak sound. You’ll see what I mean, it literally sounds like a big ass piece of paper flapping super hard in the wind.

Then you just trace down the leak, i could hear it was coming from the engine bay and not under the car. So I looked with my phone and checked the downpipe flex pipe. It was clean then I used my hand to feel around for any air coming out, I felt air bursting out st the back of the motor by the manifold. I then took my phone and recorded video with flash and tucked it up behind the motor best I could. Stopped and watched the video and you could see the crack very easily.

As you can see in the picture the crack is almost 360 degrees

Interesting thanks! I wanted to check mine for cracks but couldn’t think of a good way of getting a look at it
