it it easy to get the old vents out?? i wanna change mine to the s3 ones

They just pull out. Centre ones are a bit tricky and take a bit of force, but the side ones are pretty easy. You have to pierce a small hole in the ducting to pass the wiring through from the back of the vents and into the space behind the dash to pick up your loom.

For the wiring, cut off the plugs on the outer vents and extended the wiring upto the centre console to drop down behind the radio. The centre vent wires were extended before I fed them in. The wires lives were all then soldered together, and the earths soldered together. Then soldered a drop wire from the lives to the blue/grey on the back of the radio plug (dimmer circuit) which rather than cut, I removed some of the insulation and soldered to the bare wire. Last wire was a drop across to the main earth point under the steering column which was connected via a spade connection under the bolt. Obviously, all soldered joints were wrapped in insulation tape to protect them. (I was advised to avoid earthing on the radio wiring as the CD changer is very sensitive to noise - apparently a VW trait.)

Put £60 worth of fuel in and took her up to santa pod for a blip up the strip.

Best i got was 15.15 seconds @ 93.52 mph which im quite happy with as i got a rubbish start. Dropped the tyre pressures before the next few runs and then the rain came. Next time im aiming for mid to high 14's with a bit of luck :)

What prep work do you have to do on the wheels for the final finish you'd want? Where did you get it from too?

direct from plastidip.co.uk £9 a can (cos i got 6) in stead of £16+ from ebay

for a perfect finish i would use a pre dip spray or a dipping primer first, id take all the wheels off so i could lay them flat & get an even finish, id also mask the rims off cos although it does come off it is tricky on all the lettering on my wheels.

There was a guide somewhere but cant find it. I have used a metal bucket handle ( metal wire ) with a smal 90 degrees bend at the end ( hook )
Just put it in through the vent and grab the end of it and pull.the hook have to be small less than 1 cm
Hope it helps

Ripped the boot apart trying to find the source of my rear end rattles (oo-er) and came to the conclusion that I have a Gremlin in the car!

Was a right pain in the gladiolas! :(

Took mine to accident repair centre to get some paintwork done as it was done before I brought it but the match isn't 100% so I've now lost it for 4 days, but hopefully it will be near perfect when its back... And I'll be smiling once again.....

Joined the 100K derv club last night, and slightly damaged the sump guard tray, due to a bit of over spirited driving on a b road

Drove it to work and back after picking it up yesterday. Tried to do a sensible run and work put what I'l be averaging with regards to mpg but was hard not to put my foot down :) . Ended up being 31 mpg which isn't too bad. Already planning a few mods and get paid tomorrow (not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing haha) so my weekend will be spent ordering parts haha
