I had to use at least 8mm to clear my 6pot and have had nothing but grief, snapped spacers and vibration through wheel. What ones are you using?

The ones i run are on my mk3.5 focus st but im sure same applies to vag range also aslong as they have a lip for the centre bore of the wheel to sit on to avoid stressing the bearing and studs?

Might be wrong

Eek, what brand were they? I've not had any problems (yet) with the H&Rs. Luckily I had them as well cause the brembos were close on 19" wheels.
They were ones off ebay think £120. I was thinking about trying H&R ones since can get them at a good price from euro.

That's what I thought but for some reason my 10mm spacers snapped.

LEDs still in.

You have a green light! They didn't even mention it lol do we know what fogs to order yet?

Pretty sure it's 9006 hb4. Just looking for some on eBay. But got a weekend backlog of glass cleaning. Oil n filter change (if the filter ever arrives) and I picked up a cheap nextbase 512gw with hard wiring kit (hope my multimeter battery hasn't gone flat).

Look at blanking out the writing on the Nextbase Cam. I’ve heard it is reflective and also easy to spot from the outside. I say this so some scumbag doesn’t smash your car windows to nick it.

Cheers. Hopefully the base is quite discreet. I picked the nextbase 1 cause it was on sale and 2 it's removable. So as long as I don't forget to take it with me I'm hoping some :censored: doesn't break the window thinking the base unit has summat attached.

I can take the hit and see what we need, I'll have a look see and get some ordered.

You know a guide would be a great idea for this hard wire install for anyone who has your exact car that might want to do this lol

The BlackVue 590W was a little bit dearer but was also removable.

Cheers. For some reason Nextbase think it makes it more secure making the dashcam visible and even give you a giant "rob me while I'm parked" sticker to advertise the goodies. I don't think it occurred to them having a dashcam in parking mode and a bigger sticker telling people to beware won't actually work! Kind of felt shaky using a permanent marker on my brand new dashcam but, better than broken window:

Also... annoyingly couldn't get rid of this last bit of cable because the mirror console is rock solid:

Ran out of time to look at fogs. Mainly because I downloaded a fuse diagram for the MK2. Set to work... nothing frickin worked then realised it was the left hand drive version!! Forgot to take a photo before pulling fuses, so ended up with a 10a and 20a and had to tick them off in the manual one at a time!!

So... once I undo the screw for the "fog plastic", it feels really loose, do I just give it a good yank straight off? Or twist it? Or work the trim tool round?

I think the pics I took are actually awful. The whole install only took me an hour (including mandatory cut to hand). But I will write up what I did in the morning and try n tidy up the pictures a bit. It's actually pretty tidy, except the last bit (see above). But it's actually really easy to get to the fuse box, and I didn't remove any trim!!

I had the same issue and used an adhesive cable tie to hold the cable in place. Doesn’t look great but hard to see from outside and I have to disconnect the cam at various times so makes it easy for me to get to the cable.

Ooo, didn't know that was a thing. I'll give that a try, cheers. Glad it's not just me. Although, I did stick the 3M pad on at an angle and off center just for @Jimbobcook. It doesn't show up in photos, but from the outside you can see a big sticky blot on the windscreen (ace) and if you look closely the dashcam base. But I'm hoping a closer look will reveal no dashcam attached to said base.

I have that too. Need to find a way to stop it showing up as it’s the only thing really that shouts “I have a DashCam”.

How do you actually stick the mount in without the sticky pad showing? Beats me

That looks pretty good though considering I'd be the same as you with that cable, @Maypack idea seems a good one.

The fogs are twist from memory, they seem loose but mine were a bit stiff twisting lol its was alot like the beatles song twist and shout haha

Yeah, I was horrified when I saw it from the outside. Like I instantly wanted to start polishing the windscreen to make it go away! I wonder who thought, yes, the just hit a giant juicy bumblebee look. That's what we were going for.

Cheers, well we are fortunate that real cars don't need side airbags. So I just rammed all the extra cable inside the A-Pillar!
