Hi, i am new here, and am looking at buying a leon cupra R over the summer...
I was just wondering what kind of price should i be willing to pay for a good one, and what should i expect for this??

Also, what should i look out for/be aware of when looking at them, are there any well known nasty problems, or common bodge jobs?

Are there any 'extras' that are a big improvement on them and would up the value??

Cheers for all help,
Ben

There are plenty around for £8500 nowadays but if your budget was say £10k you should be able to get a 53/04 plated car in good condition with FSSH and low mileage (sub 40k)

As said above, only real additional option is the recaro interior!

It depnds on what you want and whether you need to get one from a dealer.

I can let you know about dealer prices at the moment. 55 plates range from about 13.5k up to £15k depending on mileage and whether a 2006 model. This would apply for black or plat grey. Yellow and red seem to be a bit cheaper for some reason.

They then range down to about £11k for 53 plates with approx £40k - £50k on clock.

I only looked at 225 bhp model so can not really help you on the older models.

Obviously private deals come in alot cheaper, but no warranty unless man left.

Also depends on area you are looking in. I am from South and they seem bit pricer than the midlands. Check out the seat website.:D

Are you going to "modify" it or leave it as it is?
The problem is you have joined this forum and how ever good your intentions are... your gonna play with it. How far you go will be up to you, remap, suspension, tyres, exhaust, dog bone mount, short shifter, front mount intercooler, are the start of things. Then you join the big turbo gang!!!
Suits you sir.. go on you know you want to!! Then its GTI International, trackdays, local meets
Suppose you could just add an air freshener and "tootle around"

Cheers for the help guys....
I realistically want to spend around 8.5k, but will stretch to 10 if its guna be worth it.
Im not one of those people to be put off by miles as i know they will last for ages nowdays....
I would really be looking at finding the nicest one i can, would like the leather, but wouldn't hold out for it.
Also, i seem to have a thig for the yellow at the moment :)

Like i said, only just started to look into them, and wont be buying till the middloe of summer at least!!

lol mate....

I know i will whatever i say anyway, have done with all my dubs, and always go to shows and that.....
I expect it will start with a remap, and go from there really...
I like the outside how they are, but i expect the engine might be played with a bit.

By the way, what are these like on fuel economy realistically cos im only 19, and off to uni. Saying that, as long as it is as good as my vr6 or batter, im not too bothered as thats not as bad to run as everyone makes out!!

You'll be waiting a while on leather mate,
no leather in Cupra R's (not even option),
unless someone else has had an aftermarket trim! (min £1300)

Oh, btw, check the sticky at the top of the page for fuel, serviceing etc....
common question and someone took a lot of time to do this and did it well!

I've put a deposit down on an 04 plate LCR, 17k on the clock - dealers wanted 12.5k. Couldn't really budge on that, but got a good trade in.

The perks were the warranty, AA membership, service, new brake pads and discs & 6 months tax. I was willing to pay a bit extra for the dealer security and being able to trade my car in for a reasonable price.

If you went to a dealers with cash in hand they could be able to move on the price a bit.

Took me the best part of a month to find the one for me though - which aint that bad.

Happy hunting!

i like the idea of having dealer security, and the mileage looks great 2!!

i'm pretty sure leather wasnt a dealer option in the books,
you might have got a rertrim from a company that the dealer would have sent the car off to,
but pretty sure it wouldnt have come like that from the factory in spain!

I don't know, all i know is that the dealer said i could have the leather Recaro option. Only reason i know is because i wanted the Recaro's but he said he could only do them in leather and that the seats fitted standard are basically the same.
