Thanks. :)

I also saw someone wrote a review on some 5mm thick tape on Amazon and said it wasn't quite thick enough. Bought a couple of reels, hopefully that will do both cars.

I hope my 6mm stuff does the job then, I deliberately avoided the 8mm stuff because I thought it might cause problems getting the panel back on properly, wish I got it no though because surely 8mm would create a better seal.

I need to get my finger out as after I went out twice in my truck to grit the streets of Glasgow I got back the yard to find my Leon frozen SOLID!!

Ice had formed a long the bottom on the doors. I'll be leaving my keys with the mechanics and they can keep it warm for me until I do seals on my next day off.

Water Leak

I spent sometime reading through most of the posts, and once I managed to get the panel off (without snapping the plastic clips), gave it some thought, the whole job was a piece of cake. Although I would advice starting the job in the morning rather than late afternoon. Time will tell if my work does the job. I used 4mm butyl sealant. All very easy, fingers crossed...!!

Did my 2 front doors today. Hopefully will hold. Drying the whole lot out could be very difficult though, especially in this weather. Dont think im up to completely stripping the interior. To be absolutely honest this is just the straw that broke the camels back. I bought this car (1 owner, FSH, low mileage and all receipts for work done) against my better judgement after my experiences before.

Ill attempt to run the car for a couple more years to get something out of it and then never buy anything so poorly designed and put together ever again. Shocking - ive got a Nissan that over twice as old. Dry as a bone.

Remove the front seat and the side trims lift the carpet and cut the sound deadening along the tunnel, minding any wires.Pop out the rubber grommets to aid the water escaping and dry the sound deadening. Simples.

Cheers - got electric seats so bit harder. When im confident ive fixed leak/s then i may look at stripping the interior. Might just get replacement underlay and replace it all in one go so i dont lose the car for days.

just uncouple the wiring, oh and they are heavier lol

You need to make sure the leak is 100% sorted before re-newing the underlay

Do I need to disconnect the battery? Yep, definitely wont replace any underlay/carpet until im damn sure ive got the leak sorted. Tomorrow will be be a test to see if the seals hold. Then I can do the back doors (which actually seem fine, but wont risk it)

Sods law i discovered this leak the day the clocks changed and the temps dropped!

Cheers :)

yeah the seats have air bags need to disconnect the battery and leave a while before moving them for safety. You need the radio code if it's the standard unit.

Thanks DubSteve68 great write up did mine over the weekend - keeping my fingers crossed it worked I even doubled up some of the Butyl around the speaker area I could see where the seals had perished as it came apart and was all wet!

Whats the best way now to get rid of all the water in the car apart from blasting the heaters everytime I driver lol

Where have all the pictures gone? Did this on drivers side about a year ago and just noticed what looks like the same on passenger.
