Hi Marv. all the drainage holes are clear and I can see the water drain down them. There is no cable points under the houskng as iv had all this out to be able to reseal :( I dont think its the wind screen. Its wierd because when you take the pollen filter out of the housing you can see the water right down at the bottom justbefore what could be a fan into the cabin. Driving me nuts!

Can you see where the water has been tracking down the housing towards the fan? Might help to identify a corner which isn't sealed fully.

And is the filter itself completely dry?

I used the same butyl stuff as for the door seals, seems to have done the trick so far.

Thanks for this advice people... sorted my car out

myself too, tried the v cut in the door :( but when i sealed the doors as instructed (i used an expensive sealant/glue) problems have been sorted. one point i have to make is that i had to make sure the speakers were correctly sealed because this is where most of my water was leaking from . :D

Worked for me for 2 full years until last winters beating now it looks like it will need to be redone, other than using high quality silicone is there any what to prolong the fix?

Hey there, use Butyl Strip 6mm x 6mm you'll need about 10mtrs to do all 4 doors.

From memory page 9 of this thread will give you full instructions of how to do it properly

Silicon sealant degrades overs some time and in the long term isnt as effective.

Some people say 8 meters is enough, but I used 10 meters on mine, purple as I doubled up on the bottom half of doors.

Be carefull not to over tighten the door card bolts, you might shear it off it you do.

You can get the Butyl Sealant on Ebay arounf £15-20 for 10meters

Enjoy!

Found water in the passenger rear footwell today after the snow.....

Whipped the doorcard off and around the carrier is bone dry, however it looks to be coming from around the speaker as there is a tiny crack in the plastic at one of the rivets. Oh joy

Wish I'd seen that when I had the carrier off to do the butyl job, now I'll have bits of rivet floating around inside the door when I drill the old ones out to butyl the bloody speaker. [:@]

Only plus side is I still have the carpets out so it was easy enough to clear up. Just fecking annoying!

i used a plastic bag between the door and the speaker just to keep the water off the back of it, it also makes a better seal on the tape.

Hi there,

my 2003 Seat Leon Cupra T is starting to show its age at long last...only done 80k but in past couple of months started noticing a few issues! Yesterday heading back from Dorset, noticed a duckpond forming behind drivers seat, so have ordered all the necessary bits from ebay to tackle this. Thank you to original poster & all other contributions - I was about to give up completely on my Leon but perhaps spending time on the forum & dealing with things I can resolve.

Will post up how I get on...!

So after finding a bit of a leak on the passenger side I've followed the guide and replaced the seal with butyl tape stuff but still seem to be getting a small leak from the speaker itself.

What's the best way to deal with this? Is covering the bottom of the speaker in silicon enough or does it need the speakers removed and butyl used round them? Hoping not as I don't fancy having to drill out the rivets!

get a carrier bag, cut out a big circle, curve that behind the speaker and put some tape over it then screw the speaker back on. job done

Cheers  so looks like I'll need to drill out the rivits holding the speaker on, bummer. Ok that's a job for when it gets a bit warmer :)

So my windows are steaming up, and when i open my doors when it's been raining there is water on the door sill.

Does this mean my doors are leaking?
