Thanks, I like to try on do different things and learn on the way and as an engineer I can not pass opportunity like this even there obviously has some risks also.

Appreciate your feedback :) and yes that bus didn't even arrive

Hadn't thought about cryo, and now I've gone down that rabbit hole 😅 Thinking of getting the gears coated as well because why not.

Just looked at the Epytec stuff, SOOOO much cheaper than the versions I've seen in the UK.

Finally putting gearbox back together, few holes drilled to case and some small work with angle grinder.

Cleaned and installed 4th gear support. Also added sealant to case strengthen kit bolts.

Case back and shifter tower installed, and found all 6 gears and reverse. Seems that managed to get everything back on their place. Case bolts need to double checked and then it's ready to go back to the car

Few small updates, have been lazy with cars and too busy at work and home renovation lately.

Got my Koni Coilovers Back from service, and finally assembled those back together with KW V3 spec main springs and helper springs. Decided that 15 year old Koni springs need to get their rest. And those were also progressive barrel shaped ones so maybe I gained some extra stiffness.

Test reports for my customized Konis, way more force than from factory. Softest setting equals with hardest setting of KoniSports

Fronts

Rears

Also bought Audi TT cast control arms and hubs. Those are now painted and ready for install new ball joints.

Side project was also prep my 306GTI-6 to MOT and track ready. So new Ferodo brake pads and but rust repairs. Some previous owner have jacked up car incorrect place

Not the prettiest fixing but it's just as good that I can make outside (Infront of garage coz Leon is on the lift)

Ferodo ds2500

And I don't like red so much so had to paint all calibers

Had few spare hours for Saturday so decided to changes rear springs and continue with boost pipes.

Quite small space 3.5" bend to 3" boost pipes

no suitable bends so had to made one. Terrible looking welds but works. I think I haven't touch the tig during summer

Almost run out of Argon so last piece is just tacked,

Next would be other side of FMIC and modify Downpipe, need to move V-band better position and eliminate too tight bend to smoother.

Good Morning VT,

George Lucas said that "Films are never finished they are just abandoned".
🤔
I have a sneaky suspicion you're projects will live on by a similar ethos.

Keep up the excelent work, you are putting us mere tinkerers to shame . 😆

Slow progress but at least some

Last seams welded

Some welds seems at least ok

Also finally removed old DP and started to do new one, hopefully with better flow. Old one was done by my mate, before I bought my own one.

Then some testing with new Tig torch and made some piecuts also.

Old setup just for reference. Those 90deg bends are too tight, so trying to make smoother DP.

🤔

I have a sneaky suspicion that VT86 is either, building himself a rather convincing Iron Man costume for Halloween 🎃

OR

Is really serious about auditioning for The Wizard of Oz...?

...Either way watch out for icing, and rust!

PS pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. 😉

Some slow progress again, rear shocks and new springs are back on their place and adjusted just a bit harder. Also DP is finally ready and installed and heat wrapped with Thermotec. Notice also that turbo waterline is leaking and it was regular AN6 hose so those are replaced with Teflon AN6 hoses and modified turbo outlets to stainless pipes to give some distance from heat.

Last mock up before wrapping

Then some waterline modifications, found some old banjo pipes. Decided to weld AN6 stainless fittings to them. Teflon hose is bit difficult with OEM plastic y-pipe so had to weld aluminium AN6 to cast aluminium version of that.

And pipes on their place, needed to cut and grind few tools to fit them, I really hope washers sits well and does not leak. Very very annoying place to tight those up. Then some teflon hose and fittings and Goodridge heat shield.

Also last part of boostpipe annoyed me, because it was too thight fit with washer reservoir and headlight. Couldn't install headlight back cover at all, so I removed washer reservoir and made last part of boost pipe again. Ofcourse this means I have to find smaller reservoir or build one.

Had some free time finally. Started to graft washer reservoir

First some drawings and CAD work (Cardboard Aided Design)

Then cutting aluminium pieces, mistakes happend, I thought I have 2mm or 3mm aluminium sheet but it was something like 1mm or 1.2mm. Decided try anyway even welding that thin aluminium ain't my cup of tea.

Notice also that it might be even better if I turn reservoir 90deg. Gives more room for fluid level sensor. Of course it makes brackets little bit more difficult to make but let see.

Now need to wait that filler cap and neck arrives. Then fix few leaks on welds and build some kind brackets.

Saturday went at shooting competition and had only few hours to spend on Sunday. So welded cap for reservoir, do leak test and weld few rounds to make it leak proof. Also started to made mounting brackets, but run out aluminium, argon and time. Looks quite terrible but it seems to fit and work and I believe (hope) that it wont look that bad after painting. Specially it's bit worse looking on photos than reality, due reflections.
