you dont need a new HU for a sub.... look at my audio thread that i did on my old 1.4 (in my sig)

All I was asking for was the size of the speakers, but anyway so it isn't a pull out put in straight away thing?

im well aware of that and i 'was' trying to help a little.

speakers cannot just be pulled out and replaced without the correct stuff... you will need:

new speaker pods (can be got off ebay for £10)
speakers (which you have)

also dont buy coaxial speakers as the ones in the seat are components.

whats the big difference between coaxial speakers and components adam? any difference in sound quality, or just the way the speakers are set up?

coaxial have a tweeter in the middle of the mid range cone.
components are seperate midbass cone and seperate tweeter

the mk3 ibiza have a wteeter in the A pillar (trebble is more directional than bass)
and they have a mid range cone (6.5") in the bottom of the door.

components are generally much better quality and give better sound (in my opinion)

thanks for the reply mate, also, looking at upgrading my speakers again, atm i have some 2 way comps up front, but looking to go louder with an amp, looking at around 70 - 90rms for speakers, ive got a sub in the back, should i go 3 way or 2 way, dont really listen to songs with the sub on all the way these days just after loud music.

How good are standard front speakers?, remmber on the leon and alhambra they hve some decent bass but on my ibiza cupra they sound abit dosrted when turned up or on loud mode.

do 1.4 and cupra have same front speaker and size? as going down saturday to pick up new set for the front.

best thing to do is buy a decent make speaker like JL audio, RE or other similar brands. yes they may cost more buy the clarity, quality and loudness of the speakers easily bring them miles above the rest.

1.4, 1.6 and cupra's all have the same crap audio system in them

DLS would get my vote or Cadence, both though aren't the easiest to get a hold of!

Get the best quality you can afford, take a reference track(or 2) with you on CD or Memory stick. Try various different speakers with the same track, that way you'll get a fairly good idea of what suits your taste in music..

im gonna add you have to take the door cards off, dont rip off the grilles as they will either snap or wont click back in
