Not sure how but copied cards cause issues. You would think they are identical.

It says it's a sealed box so you might be ok, should have a code inside it to link with the car? or do you need dealer software? Can't remember and don't feel like going through the thread at this time of night... too tired sorry.

The codes are one use only, so no one has gotten used cards to work in a second car afaik

Based on what I had supplied when SEAT updated my maps - that is not an update map - it is a map card for loading to a new car that has never had maps loaded.

He is selling 5F0 919 8665 ( V6 2015 )

My update card is part number 5F0 919 866K ( V6 2015 ) it arrives in a box with the activation code ( the card and code in one pack is part number 5F0060884H )

So I took a chance on the above cards from eBay, decided to message the seller and act dumb :cartman: basically asked if they were used and would they work, he replied with they are used but will work. 2 days later one came in the post.

what I received in the post was a brand new V6 card in a sealed case.

so my MY14 Cupra came from factory like this

Here's the old card with new

V6 installed

So I'm now running V6 of mapping instead of V4, was kind of hoping there was a firmware update on the SD card as well but there wasn't

because it's a new card that's never been associated with a car, I'm assuming, rather than a pre-used one that's effectively linked to a vehicle already?

that must mean that there is a file on the SD card which contains details of the car it is associated with, rather than the other way around which is what we all assumed was the case.
In that case, theoretically, if we did a copy of a brand new card it would, in theory work on anyones car?

so now we just need someone to take an image of the newest card BEFORE they put into their car for the first time.

Meppershall Beds.
that makes sense. I'd always thought it was the car programmed to the card, not vice versa.
But then I've been calling expresso expresso for 50 years, but it seems I'm wrong, and it's espresso now:)
so what do I know?

maybe one thing AndrewJB can do is to look through all the files on the card for one which has a timestamp (creation or modified) which tallies up with when he put it in the car. (or one thats different to all of the others, in case it doesn't stamp it with a date properly)

indeed. I would guess that it wouldn't as if you don't have to tell your headunit to work specifically with a card, then it MUST work the other way around. so your card must have been edited by the headunit somehow. it might be bit level change though so might not be something you'll be able to see on the card.
Out of interest is the write protect tab on or off on the card? i'm assuming you havent touched that. wonder what happens if you try to put a new one in with the write protect enabled.

if you want to test anything and you're anywhere near peterborough, i'm happy to look.

if i had 50quid knocking about spare i would buy one. maybe we can do a group thing. if everyone chips in and one person takes a good hard look at trying to investigate with a fresh card? happy to volunteer for that too.

the card is "locked" the little tab on side is set to lock

hmmm even more interesting. unless there is something about sd cards which i don't understand and they are able to be written to somehow if they are locked...

i'm not sure how cards are generally set to in Seats, can someone else check theirs to see if theirs is locked? I'm out of the country right now so can't check mine :(

Def sounds like it could be a good option to try your card in another Leon though, AndrewJB.
Will investigate the whole writing to if writelocked thing now.

Could it somehow affect the card by using it in a PC prior to the car ?

I'm very tempted by this as my current MY15 unit is at 0040 2014/2015.
