You just need a copy of that 2023 mib1 map and take from there. Mibsolution.one is up and down.
Tried again today, it drops out for a few seconds & then starts again ...got about 3/4 way though & then totally dropped out..their site hosting is very bad...my internet is fine & fast. so not my end!

There is a recommended way of doing it which they have on their site :unsure:... this is a link to the one they recommend. It's a module

Friday night everyone will be thrashing it so you need to pick a less busy time with a download manager.

Safe updating maps but not firmware if you dont know what you are doing. Mapcard you take a copy of it. The SSD ones (mib2 high) if you force it via SWDL and don't have valid Navigation FeC for the map, like the life long navigation fec, then it's shows up for 30 seconds then closes down and says the map isn't activated.

Those are the only two things that can go wrong. Former you use you SD map image required for work arounds, mib1 and mib2, the latter you loose your SSD map image. Was in that one till I found the old release prior to getting the FeCs updated. Restoring the old release brought back the map.

At that time the secret of navigation FeCs wasn't known to the board or me. 7 years ago. Had to do the learning curve after a London based retrofitter was mis-selling firmware updates with maps for life.. yeah a year only, they must have known. Effected two of us. I'll credit myself with working out the Seat table after seeing the Audi one. Different codes. Using @Walone FeC working and mine when it stopped. Pictures of before and after running FeC changes are very useful.

Those are the golden rules.

In the storm power cut so musing ✂️. Power back by noon 💪.

For those that have lost the contents of the mib1 card by not taking a copy of it before deleting it just posted up the solution on Briskoda

There are a few of you about :oops:. The mapcard will have the part number of the release you are on. Then you search the WWW for it (without the spaces). If lucky someone may have listed off the bank of codes. 2015 is the example above there that had been lost. So you don't need to see all of the file just the DBInfo.txt file and that should give you enough to make a careful edit to get the 2023 map release working on an old card deleting Russia or buying a new mib2 card to work on. Deleting Russia from the map files gets you down to 8gb to fit.

This morning I managed to get the "2023" MIB1 maps downloaded from mibsolutions...:D

& without having to use the download manager, which I couldn't get to work 100% as every time I tried to put in the URL it came back with "index page", even when I direct copied the link!...god knows whats going on there?!..

Now to get a newer 16GB card with the "AT" version.....found a V16 for about £35 so not bad...might get it...I know I could get the maps to fit my old 8GB card, but its a V5 & 10yrs old!!

P.S. my current "DBinfo" file from my V5 "AT" card with the official VW 2020/21 maps is this:-
PartNumber1="8V0060866M "
PartNumber2="5G0919866BD"
PartNumber3="V03959807NT"
PartNumber4="5F0060884CJ"
PartNumber="8V0060866M "
ApplicationSoftwareVersionNumber="0094"
SystemName=" ECE 2020/21 "

Yes that part list is very useful for people who accidently delete the card and don't back it up.

Think mibsolution.one is run on a shoestring, gets overloaded and collapses. There is a history.

I had noted mibsolutions being run on a shoestring...what annoyed me is that I couldn't get a URL that the download manager would accept!...PITA..never mind I hit the time right for a sub30min download time!

Think you are out of luck even if you could adjust the map file to EU firmware which you can do with mib2 standard to work with the RoW, RoW doesn't cover Algeria if that is where Maghreb is.

The RoW mib1 standard map zone for the official release is shown here.

North Africa is a problem one. Not covered in mib2 high, but covered in mib2 standard. Not in mib1 standard. Better situation in mib3. This question comes up on second hand cars imported to North Africa and the Middle East.

Two steps forward, one step back!....

The new OEM VW card that I ordered which was advertised as a 16GB capacity, turns out to be only an 8GB...!!...:mad:

Other than that item is as described...

Card printed with:-
VW Satnav "AT"
Europa V16
ECE 2020/21
8V0 060 886M

Is there a list with the actual capacities of every card version & part number??...

I just wanted a newer (my old card is a AT V5 8GB) & bigger 16GB card to make it easy to place the "hacked" 2023yr maps for my MIB1 onto!

All mib2 standard cards are either 16gb or 32gb. They popped the 16gb size about 3 years ago when they started selling the 32gb card for all Europeto fit. So if advertised on Ebay as mib2 standard, they normally say whether it's the 32gb they are selling or not.

Either 16 or 32 gb

32gb ones

The CID on these cards is recognised by mib1 or mib2 so you can use interchangeably. If on ebay obviously you use their satisfaction score, postage cost and delivery time to supply. They are all interchangeable whether branded as VW, Skoda or Seat.

Have a Skoda one and a special one with a re-writeable CID for experimenting on another story, making 3 SD cards.

The seller has a good reviews & reputation & I've emailed them & awaiting a reply..this is why I've not yet disclosed who they are.

What I can't figure out is my OEM card states "V5-AT", ...the purchased one is "V16-AT"...the ones in your link are "AS".......I was on the understanding the CID on those won't work on an older system that had an "AT" card from the factory...or have a got my knickers in a twist???....o_O...

What is the purpose of the AS or AT designation on the card if not the CID??

Reckon AT / AS is VW terminology for the two Mibs, mib1 and mib2.

The CID is interchangeable, the contents aren't. But what you need is a mib2 standard nav card, delete what's on it and write the mib1 2023. So you got the mib1 navigation maps on a 16gb card plus a VAG CID.

So it's got to say 16gb or 32gb mib2 standard. If you are looking for a bargain some of the older mib2 cards being sold are cheaper but you aren't interested on what's on it. Except the CID.

Right got it....

Don't get hung up on "AT"......
if it says "fits" MIB2 it will at least be 16GB....

I know the seller has for MIB2 with VW branding:-
V18 AS 32GB
V19 AS 32GB
V20 AS 32GB
For sale at £35 each....the V18 is about £5 cheaper than the other two......so I might go for that as a "swap"...

Hopefully I won't get embarrassed by what I said. It's the VW mib2 standard that has a variation on it that came to light when people were getting Inrix to work on it.

Delphi units were the issue. Same mib2 standard map but how it reads the contents different so the fix didn't work. That fix only works for the old Here Maps version. Mib1 is just that coding change of TMC group from 15 to 14. So mib1 you get new maps plus working TMC.

What you'd do in anycase as a controlled experiment put your existing working map on the new card and check. Having passed that move over the 2023 map.
