Tyres rubbing arches

Ever since i bought my ibiza last year i have been hearing a scrapping noise. I took it to the garage a few days ago and apparently the wheels, which are standard 15'' steel wheels are scrapping against the arches. There is nothing wrong with the suspension the guy said. I'am getting 17'' on monday. Does anyone think it will scrap, a dont know why its rubbing

Have you lowered it? As Ant says, must be too low and adding 17s to it will only make it worse. What offset did you get on the new wheels?

Hey man. Shoul be able to help but I need to know the following info:

Whats the offset, width and diameter for the the current wheels and the future wheels? Tyre size will also be helpfull.

Does the rubbing occur on all four corners or just specific ones?

Is it just the drivers side that rubs?

I would say at some point the car has been lowered by someone, but has been lowered a little too far! If your having the problem with 15", 17" and the wheels may not even be able to roll! I wuld suggest looking into the height first, before you splash out on 17's.
