I'd personaly stick with the leon. I've just come back from there in mine. Its got coilovers, role bar, spacers, dog bone mount and new goodyear f1s and it was immense. Handles like a dream. I went in a totally standard lcr 4 yrs ago and it was no were near as good! Go for the handling then the engine. When you get a map etc get the intercooler first, smic won't stand up to the ring. I had a vx220 turbo last year and i was a couple of secs quicker this year. Ended up with a 8.49 btg. A well sorted leon is better in my opinion. You also feel safer so push more. In the vx i was always aware of the barriers, have a bump in one of those there you might not get out of it!!!!!!!!!

Scott,

Any chance you could give us the full spec of your car with all non standard bits listed to help and advise you better?
Do you have a Readers Rides section thread?

Yup that's a good start.
How much lower is your LCR than OEm ride height?
With a rear adjustable ARB and an S3 strutt brace you will be feeling well good on corners.
I've gone for 25mm drop from the OEM ride height, I have a track day on the 8th of August that I'll mess about wit the ride height to see what differences it gives but so far 20-25mm drop seems good.
You really want to keep the wishbone arms parallel with the ground, at 25mm drop there just off of this, I'll try 20mm drop first to see how this differs.
Don't overlook good rubber, I have used GYE F1 Asymmetrics for a while and love them. Not really tested them real hard on the track but what I've done so far they feel good

Dogbone mount basically stops the engine form moving under hard acceleration. Meant to give more vibration but i didn't really notice that much difference. I've got the ap coilovers. The goodyears are definatly the tyres to get. ust the rear role bar. Its actually my mates bar!

at the min mine is to low to be honest. Noy sure how much lower but the front spoiler catchs all the time. Im going to winde it up when i start trackin it. I went down the low and wide look but its to unpractical. i will defos put the rear ARB and s3 anti roll bar down on the list then cheers for that. Im think about going for toyo r888 for when its on the track. I just need to decide on the wheels to go for.

they need to be the last thing i'd say. brakes everything need to be done before they go on. 888 give the car a stupid amount of grip. The car will need to be stiff or you will just be roling everywhere because theres so much grip form tyres

well i got new discs form crn, new ds2500's and race brake fluid. When i was there it was 28 degrees. I done about 18 laps on a very fast pace and the brakes never missed a beat. The brembo calipers are genuinely a good caliper. Maybe a 2 piece disc next time but it defo isn't a must. I mean that if you stick a set of 888's on a near standard car the suspension wont be able to keep up. You would be on the door handles because the tyres offer so much grip but the suspension wouldn't be stiff enough to stop role.
