i went out with a 130 TDi owner who said he had his mapped to 160...in the end he had a boost leak and now he is definately running more than mine. i'd say GUS check all pipes and clips to ensure you are in fact running your remap properly

Would like to see that. Where did you make up 3 seconds from? Sounds like the testing equipment is well out!

you saying a standard PD130 runs 17.9 sec 1/4ers? Standard is around high 15's-16secs, stage one should be from 14.7-mid 15s

Not necessarily; the better car could be beaten by the lesser car if the latter has a better driver.

Well thats also part of it too, hence why 1/4 miles are a good test of a car and its driver.

Same boat myself. M8 has a 130 Fr 5 door and is remapped to 180. Mines a 3 130 Fr 3 door and I can stick with him no problems. The only thing I can put it down to is the difference in doors. I know mine isnt remapped as ive driven his and theres ALOT more pull in the higher gears and is on boost far quicker than I am.

No I'm asking how he is hoping to find 3 seconds on the 0-60 with a remap.

Right iv read many peoples thoughts on this and I think iv caused a bit of a flurry, however just to clarify some points

Standard 130 Ibiza tdi sport

_______________________
BHP 130 at 4000 revs
Torque 229 at 1900 revs
0-60 (through gears) 9.4 secs
30-70 (through gears) 8.9 secs
30-50 (3rd/4th/5th) 3.4/5.0/6.4
50-70 (3rd/4th/5th) 4.8/5.6/6.4

These figures are totally inaccurate , and this is why, many manufactures put down lower performance figures to try and give the car a lower insurance rating , I know most know that the 130bhp claimed is more like 145-150bhp with most cars. Classic example was the 306 gti-6 claim of 0-60 in 8.5 sec. It was but the car had 5 adults and boot full of luggage and it didn’t fool the insurance companies either , it was more nearer to the 7sec mark.

I didn’t get a chance to do 0-60 however 30-70 I manages 7.4 sec ? ( in 3rd average two runs) that’s well off the 8.9 sec claimed.

I recon 0-60 is more like 8.5 standard on I Ibiza 130 tdi

Still should a remapped 130 be better than this or is my car remapped?
Best ever race I managed to beat a leon 170bhp tdi ( by a car length)

If 7.4 sec is standard surly if I remap it will be stunning in mid range?

Well stripping ALOT of weight out of the car and having a map :S Its not a hard combination to understand is it?

Unless I missed it, the OP didn't mention anything about stripping A LOT of weight. Only a remap.

So you are right, it's not a hard combination to understand but it's also not hard to read either.

Therefore, I stand by my comment of shaving 3 secs off your 0-60 with only a remap is bollox.

And jaz205gti - how did you measure your 30-70 time? (7.4 secs) As for the 0-60, I 've witnessed a Clio Sport nail a pd160 to 60, and the Clio's times are lucky to break the 7 secs mark.

well got a stop watch flat ground put it into 3rd at 30 and put my put down ?

maybe a clio could beat a 160 0-60 however in real life driving mid range punch of tdi will out preform a clio sport

above link proves it

if a remap improves 130 tdi by 40 bhp and 70 lbs torque 3 sec off 0-100 is believable

Yes, but it's not as good a direct comparison of cars run up on the same rolling road by the same operator, on the same day.

For one thing, the cars are all doing a controlled 'rolling start', so there's no real room for 'driver error' in this respect, whereas a 1/4 mile sprint involves a lot more variables and opportunities to come up with a flawed result.

Stop watch timing = FAIL! This is maybe the most inaccurate way of timing car acceleration, other than counting in your head.

Yes, mid-range punch will just out perform a Clio Sport but I was referring to 0-60, where you will not shave off 3 seconds with a remap. And your link does not show mid range punch - mid range punch is when you are rolling at a certain speed and then floor it without changing gear, which does not happen on a drag race.

3 secs off 0-100 might be a tad optomistic. My 160 does 0-100 in roughly 17 secs. No way will it do it in 14 with a remap to say 200bhp/300lbs/ft. 14 secs is RB5 quick.

Don't get me wrong, a remap will be noticable but not so much off the line.

in the video the curpra comes back hard in mid range 30-70mph indicating better mid range and you can see that in the video?

im sorry i dont need rr and all the other tests as me driving and stop watch shows me real life driving performance and figures.

130 tdi states 0-60 9.4 thats the smae as a saxo vtr however in real life driving the saxo wouldnt stand a chance? tdi has more than twice the pulling power.

iv read standard 130 tdi ibiza is around 21 sec 0-100. if remaped ( giving more power than a standard cupra 180ish ) surley the 17sec you qoute for your cupra makes perfect sence to me as most people state a remaped 130 does 0-100 in around 17-18 sec ?

and you get a better gain from the 130pd over the 160 cupra with a remap

I struggle alot against my mates 182 trophy.. Midrange we are pretty even, as is 0-60 and he kicks my arse on top end.. Cant deny the 182's are fast, hell my mate struggles in his Astra GSI to catch them!

You saying you do a standing start 1/4 mile in 14secs @100mph in a 190bhp tdi? Need more like 230bhp, hybrid turbo too

How do you know the Clio driver didn't fluff a gear change?

How do you know the Cupra driver couldn't have launched better?

You don't.

i know curpa has nearly 100 more lbs of torque

and as stated by lots of clio owners a rolling start 30-40 the cupra will win

diesels not good at the start or top end but mid range they will suprise most cars

before getting my leon i had a megane dci 130, pretty similar performance to the ibiza id guess, i raced a mate a few times in his golf gt tdi at the time, his was a 130, he would just edge me out every time. got it mapped to 165, and the difference was crazy. i mapped my fr from 200 to high 230's with superchips, and the remap on the megane was much more noticable. anyone who says it doesnt really effect the 0-60 time must be doing something wrong. i went from a best 0-60 of 8.8 to 7.5, tested with me and a mate in the car, he had a stopwatch and said when to go, then read the speedo himself to 60. likewise, we did the same in his impreza prodrive which was around 305 i think, and he made 4.2. id say these figures will still be slightly out, maybe .2/3 faster than what they should have been, but they still show the improvement. the company i got the megane mapped at did a lot of their custom mapping on the open road with a laptop, and could log 0-60,0-100,1/4 mile times etc, said the average improvement on a diesel was roughly that a 30bhp increase on a car that weighs 1 ton would be approx 1 second 0-60, so with the ibiza, the map would give more power than my remapped megane, the car would be lighter, and so there would be an increase of maybe 1.2-1.4 secs if that statement was accurate. either way, there definately is an good increase

No, with real 190bhp it is doable. With 190"tuner"bhp NOT.....

Mine on the right lane, #123:

At this time i had about 190-195bhp
Krems_07_06_09.jpg

With real 230bhp you come close to 14.0, with luck even under 14.
