interesting that the logs show its one fault (error code) - yet the garage say something completely different. :hrm:

Are you anywhere near one of the independent specialists that are advertised on SCN ? - they are usually very good at what they do - and cheaper than a main dealer.

Where you live?

Being a petrolhead I am interested in what a Camden Pump actually is?

There was a recent thread on here about after Seat warranty warranties.... a forum search should find it

Thanks Dave C, only thing is, if i get the work done from seat, at least the work will have a warranty on the pumps fitted, so i guess thats a good thing, if i get work done private, might save myself £150-£200? but is it worth it?

also they have offered m extended warranty for £600 for 12 months, do you think its worth me getting the extended warranty on it?

What do you think would of caused the pumps to fail? my friend says it could of been contaminated fuel, as its diesel someone could of put petrol in it? or bio diesel? ? ?

Now im thinking, will something else mess up in the long run, im sooooooo stressed with all this now :(

in fairness you won't see another problem such as that anymore but if you can afford 600 for 12months thats quite good because that warranty willl cover alot of things even checking the car is free then

possible but im no derv expert nor petrol all i do is ask and google :)

i don't think it be a problem with contaminated fuel most likely wear and tear... or just a typical design fault

Tandem pump, mate.

Called tandem as it has 2 functions. It generates vacuum to drive all the vacuum related equipment such as brake servo and turbo boost control solenoids, and it also pumps fuel to the injectors in the head.

Personally I smell bullsh** on both pumps failing at exactly the same time. More likely a clogged fuel filter which is certainly cheaper than either of the 2 pumps that Seat are going to change. I'd do that first, along with all the other filters and oil. But maybe I'm just cynical.

Thanks guys ...obvious really, too much red wine tonight :bleh:

I suppose if were a dealer, who really did not know what the fault was, fitting two pumps would be more financially appealing than changing a filter or two!

Or fitting 2 pumps, changing the filter, and telling the customer that they did it as a matter of routine due to contamination (or some such issue) and charging said customer aswell. I really must stop being so cynical. :banned:

You are so right.

They are guessing at the fault knowing that the customer will pay for all of the guesses

UPDATE: !

Im located in Manchester, (someone said something about a cheaper garage near me??)
Anyways, It was the smaller pump of the two, £225 fitted. The Seat chap give me a call and advised "everything is now is order, there is no need to replaced the more expensive pump" :)

I was sooooo happy! lol.

Anyways, Another question : SEAT warranty £600. ~Worth it or not? or how about any other used car warranties? Such as >>>> w w w. warranty wise .co. uk <<<< They quoted me £43012 months / £700 24 months cover.

Glad you got it sorted.
£600 for a waranty seems a lot, has a guide I payed £375 for a Vauxhall one when I had my Astra which include full AA cover and MOT waranty.

does anyone else know any good private warranties? Other than deal one, as after all £600 is a lot of money :(
