I've taken on board everyone's kind comments above and I will seriously consider looking at the Revo map in the future.

In the short-term I've decided to pay off the outstanding balance of the other halfs 1 year old C1, so that's one car now paid for.

I might speak to the Revo agent in Blaydon and take a trial to see if the same problem as the BF exists or not.

If I'm happy with it I may consider getting it done March/April time.

Just so you know, I just logged that Edition 30 again, in Bluefin mapped and stock mode.

In stock mode, the logged throttle position was perfect. In mapped mode, it was not. Everything else on the car appeared to be above board and perfect.

The result is no real performance on the car until after 4000rpm as it is not building boost due to the ecu thinking the throttle is not at 99.6% until approx 4000rpm plus the delay to build boost before it comes in.

As weird as it sounds, I would say that overall, the car is probably as quick in standard mode as it is mapped although mapped mode does shove you hard when the boost does come in.

Hi Ricky,

Did you get anyone to look at the car and try and find out as to where the problem was really coming from?, your car or the map?,

If it was me I would have been keen to try and find out what was going on, so that I knew that it wasn't my car, before I got any other maps?

No Aaron car was returned to standard form and its running fine now. To be fare if I decide to go for the Revo trial, then I will no if something is wrong.

After reading threads by some MKV GTI owners it seems that I'm not alone and the BF doesn't suit some of the TFSI cars.

It is a very strange Saga, hence my quick reaction to get out whilst I had the chance to get a refund. I really feel for the guy your kindly assisting with his ED30.

The stage 1 BF that was running on my ran well above 3,000 rpm and with a rush of boost as you note above, althougth the revs would drop around 500rpm on full throttle, which didn't feel right at all.

Good Luck with trying to sort it out. I knew it had to go back after reading about the MKV owner who had more than five different files and he even sent the VAG-COM logs to Superchips and kept being fobbed off with similar files with peaky boosts.

Superchips are one of the old time tuners with generally a good rep although I think the TFSI engines have them all confused and unable to resolve the running issues customers have reported.

I for one will certainly not be using them again. I did consider Revo months ago and I unfortunately chose the wrong product to suit my car.

alot of the tuners really havent worked their way round the 2.0TFSI at all. Its as if alot of them are all taken back by it all.

thats exactly how mine is and tbh i quite like it that way, it keeps it normal for the wife she is driving. Superchips do adjust the throttle, even more so on the stg2+ to reduce wear on the clutch and to stop the wheels spinning up so much, its one of the reasons i chose it over any other software.

Thanks for the heads up dj very kind of you. I will get a Revo trial arranged at some point and start saving some pennies.

Is the Revo map around £570?

Also, VAT is still 15% rather than 17.5%, and as Rob said, you get the free Select Plus at the moment too.

 I have had a bluefin on my last two cars and now on my 07 Cupra. I had it previously on an 00 Focus 1.8 Zetec and on my 07 Leon FR TDI. I have been impressed with it on each car and have had no issues. Plus any customer service from Superchips has been second to none.

I just can't understand why some cars are having issues and others arent. I wonder if it is down to the installation process going wrong or an underlying issue with the standard code, maybe a different MY or batch of ECUs has different code slightly as standard

But as SteveTDCI has said I like my Bluefin and the way if anything untoward is wrong then it is just a matter of removing it prior to going in for any warranty work.

As for figures between each type of software i.e. Revo/Superchips/GIAC etc, I would love someone to do a comparison on the SAME car on the SAME rollers of each stage 1 maps to see if there is any real huge differences from each code.

You'd have to Bluefin it first, then Revo as Bluefin needs a virgin ecu as I found out! Worked out good for me in the end tho as I doubt I'd have got the results with Bluefin! Fair play to the Bluefin dealers, they don't quibble over the money-back guarantee

Not quite the same, but I could give you logs of Superchips vs Revo Stage 1.

You would see a strange graph on Superchips cars it seems as you dont get any real push until after 4000rpm even though the turbo spools much earlier.

Peak numbers may be similar, but the drive would be far different.

I personally thought that the Stock Ed30 would prob end up almost as quick overall compared to when it was Superchip mapped as there was nothing much until 4000rpm where the stock map definitely seemed to pull better after turbo spool. The shove reminded me of a big turbo car at 4000rpm though, or almost like VTEC on a Honda, but at lower revs. Only 2500rpm were useful on that Ed30 when mapped previously.

My car has developed a similar clutch slipping issue with a bluefin remap installed. With the remap removed there is no slip present. I've asked supachips if they have a different map that will prevent clutch wear as I would rather not get a new clutch at near enough £1000...

New clutch costs less than £200 from Seremotors, and you would be looking at approx same for labour. Not cheap, but less than half what you are fearing.

It will only get wrecked if someone has totally trashed the clutch though ;). I am sticking with the OEM DMF as the lightened ones are too loud, not to mention very expensive.
