1300?

I wish my insurance was that cheap; mine's over 2K but I am 23, living in Manchester, have only one year's NCB (crashed the S3 unfortunately) and an SP30.
2K? :-o

I'd never pay that much for insurance.

My mates Focus RS has left a big impression on me:D since he had that I've been through 3 turbo cars inc this and none have felt as well sorted especially as it was standard.

I'd have one no doubt if the bloody dash wasn't wonky:(

There're a few people on the ST forum selling their cars if you're interested. Let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

Picking up the RS tonight boys and girls. Will report back tomorrow.

Gave the Leon a blast this morning - pulls like a train in third gear. GO JABBA! It will be dearly missed.

thats exactly the way i feel, do it now whilst your young, coz when you have a house and kids and a wife (the last being the most expensive my father tells me)
then unless you earning pretty decent coin, you aint gonna get one!

The RS sounds like it'll make you smile and that's what's important. My Mondeo ST is boring me silly (but I knew it would, it was a brain decision after all). Every day my drive to work takes me past a Vauxhall garage with an blue Astra VXR parked outside and every day I want it more and more... :(

To be brutally honest, despite the financial savings I'm not sure I'll be able to live with the Mondeo for much longer than two years.

It's the old head vs heart argument. When I desperately needed cash quickly to pay off the ex I sold the LC and bought a cheap nasty old Focus. Regretted that decision immediately. I could have kept it and got a loan / remortgaged but I had my sensible hat on. Managed to last just over a year with the Focus then bought the LCR. Miles worse off financially but much happier...... We're all enthusiasts which is why we all piss money away on something we don't really need, but boy do we want! :D

Well, picked it up last night and it's lurvely! Really nice!

The interior is actually very nice, certainly well built - of course a standard Focus interior apart from some differences - blue bits (e.g. the racing wheel), silver handbrake/gear knob, awesome Sparco buckets in leather and alcantara, Sparco pedals etc. It's a nice place to be.

It has RS mats and an RS tax disc holder. Other extras include Samco hoses and... wait for it... a Bailey whooshy dump valve. I have considered taking it off but who wants to be subtle in a car like that? It sounds amazing. You let off the throttle at the side of some local chavs/chavettes walking down the road and watch their heads turn haha. It's like being in the WRC.

In fact, when I got it home I decided to take it over to my Mum and Dad's to show them and my brother and sister. As I came down the street, the valve dumped the air, all these little kids around 8 or 9 years old stopped their game of footy and came over asking "aww mate has it got NOS? Where do you activate it?" I showed them the gimmicky green starter button and told them you press that to set it off... and they bought it - silly boys!

Performance from a standing start isn't that different to the Leon to be honest. It pulls well to the ton mark, gear changes marked by a "change up" symbol on the dash bit. It's just the midrange that it is noticeably slower - and I keep trying to put it into sixth gear! Damn five shift box!

It looks awesome in that blue colour and will be easier to keep clean than the black "R." It's certainly got a lot of road presence.

I am just happy that the house we have just moved into (first time buyer with the missis) has side parking, off road parking in the garden and a garage! I can keep it safe.

I'll get some pics up, but will have to take them on the digicam.

Whoosy dump valve! Yay! Would be nice if it was switchable so you didn't have to put up with it all the time.

Wonder why the starter button is green (green for go?) when the rest of the interior is blue?

Does it have the Ford 6006 6CD changer or some sort of double-din MP3?

Any sort of warranty from redline?

Hi mate,

I like the dump valve - sounds cool (some cars with 'em sound a bit like a bad fart!) I considered switching it but a/ again, sounds cool and brings out the boy racer in you and b/ I drive with music on all the time anyway and won't be hearing it much.

I also wondered why the button was green when the rest of the car was blue. It bugged me at first. I wanted blue or red like the button in the oval office that could destroy the world! My friend (a Ford-head) said that green is for go - it's the go button. I suppose it makes sense.

Yes, it has a 6 disc changer (think it's the one you mentioned). You load them in individually as oppose to in a cartridge, but it's very easy to use. The steering wheel instrument has a stork with stereo controls too.

Redline do offer a warranty, but the car already has the balance of the Ford manufacturers warranty on it.

Just a thought about the 6006CD player. I had one in my Focus and was told by the garage to make sure you take the removeable panel with you whenever you leave the car as these are very nickable (check out ffoc.co.uk for more info as well). Because of the double-din (and the fact it's an in-dash 6 cd changer) they're quite collectable in local pubs....... Plus, the fact that Ford charge £250-£350 quid for them!

Enjoy the RS. I'm very jealous. Seriously tempted to start looking for one.

Ah - thanks for that info Neil - I didn't know that, but I will now definitely be removing that panel. Thanks also for the link. Good luck with getting an RS. Both the LCR and FRS are great cars so whatever you do, you are on a winner.
