Thanks Neil. I've had a look at that Graham Goode site and I think I will soon be investing in a Bluefin. I want it cosmetically the same, but a bit more torque/bhp won't hurt!

I agree with you totally. There's nothing I'd change about the exterior. A bloke at work has one and he's swapped the std. exhaust for 2 x 5" drainpipes. I think it spoils it!

Sorry boys and girls, but after little over a year's ownership of the 225 05 reg black beast (Jabba remapped to 280bhp) I have got rid of it and moved on to pastures new.

The replacement? A 53 registration RS Focus, low mileage, good example etc.

I just couldn't face the devaulation/residual situation anymore... Bought the LCR for 18K a year ago (brand new) and a few months later SEAT were giving them away, brand new for three grand less. I even thought about selling and just buying an old LCR but change cars quicker than my under-garments.

I got a cracking deal with the Part-ex on the Leon and thus I am hoping for a better result with a used RS. All being well, the residuals on the RS should be better (fingers crossed a new RS is a long long way away!) After researching, I found that some RS Focuses are going for MORE money than brand new STs on Autotrader!!! Crazy!

I test drove the car today and really liked it. I can't remember the car's performance pre-remap on the Leon, but I hasten to add that the LCR as it is at present would annihalate the Focus. The RS is, of course, still standard, but I may consider remapping once I get it. Then again, I may leave it as standard to retain its collectibility. I dunno. All in all, I just think that it's a nice looking car and I have wanted one for a while now. I can't be bothered writing a full review at present, but it's a good car - but the Leon will, of course, be dearly missed.

One of my biggest car regrets was buying my Audi S3 2 years back. 21 years old, 21 grand to burn and I went for the Audi. At the time, I considered the Focus and I have had the urge to get one since. I think this car will bridge that gap between now and that golden age of 25 when my insurance may (just may) get a little cheaper!

Well, I thank you all for your help, assistance and friendship here on SCN. I hate to sound so final as I will be back every day checking up on you all.

p.s. you Jabba/APR/JBS/Revo boys stay away (for now anyway!) :p

RS is a superb track car, shame they are **** to drive on public roads! Oh well, you know best I guess!!

My m8s got an Rs...and it isnt that quick. Was a little disapointed with it tbh. And even though it has the brembo's..they dont seem as nice as the lcr ones. Not as good a feel.

At the end of the day..its ford.

Each car has its plus and minus points I suppose. The RS is as quick as the LCR standard but obviously not as tuneable as a 1.8T. Life would be dull if we were all the same, I suppose. It's just whatever floats your boat,

No, on a serious note dave - the RS did feel like it's sole purpose was to go round corners at idiot speeds.... but the LCR wasn't far off the pace on when things got twisty and in a straight line was a monster...

Tom, you animal!:argue:

Everyone's entitled to putting their 2ps worth in - don't do any harm to look at things differently...

I used to get slated for my FIAT* Uno Turbo but that 190bhp biscuit tin could wipe the grin off a lot of faces before it died on me (r.i.p)

Fix

Took Tom (GTi T) out in the RS on Monday and gave it the first real battering it has had since I got it. It felt very well planted and sticks to the road, even off the mark, considerably better than the Leon. Remember, my Leon's suspension etc. was standard and still very good but it's the Quaife diff on the Focus, I presume.

That's my findings but I am aware other people have criticised them for the diff - each to their own. I just think that while the RS is down on power, it feels similar in a straight line and a lot better around the bends

Tom had a good long go in it too, so he might be more objective and unbiased...

Tom?

Remember if you're ever the other side of the Pennines again, and you need another unbiased opinion on the RS, I'm always available. Ha ha :)

Why don`t you bring the car along to the RR Day I`ve posted up and not only will you see other FRS (sure you`d get a go in a modded one........mine!:D ) but there will be other tasty cars there too for your perusal?[B)]

Yep seems like a cracking car indeed, i drove your Leon Cupra R(pre jabba remap) and that was a very nice drive too i still love the Leon R, think the Focus is a bit stiffer, but not too stiff. Lots of grip and its not as twitchy and doesnt pull you to one side as some people/the press have said, felt fine on the roads the other night.

Interior is actually quite nice aswell :D

Gearbox feels good too which i was quite surprised by :D

Overall definately a car id consider with the Leon R later this year, looks better than the Leon though.
