WTF? ...i dont get it, you trade SEAT to FORD???
Ford is like the worst car you can buy along with Opel and Lada.
Their built quality is so shitty, you cannot even say word "quality".

My friend had ST170 and the timing belt snapped at 52000km and broke the whole engine.
Also both rear doors and trunk had to be changed coz of rust.
It has had so much electrical problems...once the car just died on traffic lights and didnt start again, it just went "black out".
The electric locks works sometimes...sometimes they dont...

And the looks of the interrior is just nasty...those plastic bits doesnt fit nicely and they look very cheap.

OK, you wanted a quick hatch and RS is one of them...

The SEAT had already been in once for creaks and rattles (warranty job) and it started to do it again. I had the car back to the dealers many times (boot lock, badges, rear washer, soor locks, squeaking brakes, radio broken) so the SEAT isn't perfect too. If I wanted build quality in a hot hatch I'd have bought an Audi S3 but I have been there and done that. owned one for 10 months and got very bored very quickly. Personally, I think the build of the Rs is pretty good, it's a pleasure to drive and it doesn't rattle like mad. each to their own innit.

Really big and cute??? How camp do you sound!! And has Stitch really grown since I last saw him or have your hands shrunk? :p

On a more serious note the car is awesome, but when is it my turn? Got my brakes sorted now so you can have a quick spin in mine too. Then some comparison tests ;)

I've been offline for days, sorry for the late reply.

Al - happy to hear the brakes are now sorted. I am looking forwards to a spin in that mate; I am well overdue a go. Of course, we will do some comnparison tests and you can have a go in the RS. I haven't seen you in over a week. You'll have to bob round. Stitch has grown slightly, but people still comment on how small he is. He does look rather big in that picture. Oh and we need to make that car video... :)

To the bloke who was talking about the ST170 - mate you are full of ****! I had a 100bhp Lupo sport that glued itself happily to an ST170 from a standing start to a high speed. And yes - he was trying. They may have 170bhp, but they are piss poor cars that cannot compete with competition e.g. the Clio Sport, seat Ibiza Cupra (and diesel etc.). The RS may only have an extra 40-odd brake more, but it is in a complete different class.

Don't you just hate it when people adopt the approach that "if it ain't Seat then it's sh*t".

Open your minds people....... there are many great cars out there at the moment, and we all like different things from our cars. I loved my S3, I love the Leon, but I have the most fun in my MK2 Gti.......

I wonder if those with that outlook sit there and think to themselves " I need a new car. What Seat shall I buy ?" Brand loyalty is all well and good but not when people don't even look at the alternatives - and there are good alternatives.

As a performance hatch the RS is the nuts - even if you don't like the badge.

I'm off to put my soap-box away now. Feeling much better. Thank you.

(S3) well said mate.

You should buy the car that ticks the most boxes for YOU - i know that a few people were wishing they'd bought a convertable over the past couple of weeks...!

Each to their own.

I can safely say that a convertable is the worst car to be driving in this weather! It's so hot that the airflow at speed does little to cool you down because it's hot air and if you get stuck in slow traffic you just fry :banned:

I've removed the temptation to drive my Elise over the past couple of weeks by removing the wheels and replacing all the ball joints myself... :funk:
