Smoking under hard acceleration

Yeah, I heard about an M5 which blew a box too. I never saw the mini but apparently that was a bad crash into the wall.

That video kind of goes like this - I pull out as camera car flashes me out, and I pause, find 4th at 60 (puff!) then find 5th at 70 and continue to pull away (long puff!) Then pull in to brake to rejoin the convoy.

Anyway, this getting a little off topic.

I could comment on how much mine smokes under hard acceleration, but due to it having no driveshaft, it currently just revs up in gear and goes nowhere.

BP Ultimate like they said. I had been using all sorts of others on my Fr with now 6k on the clock, but now I switched to BP Ultimate and you get a fine grey haze now instead - and its cheaper where I am than sainsburys!

Rich at Forge told me that smoke was a good thing as it was unburnt fuel. so that meant that there was plenty left for the boost to burn

You should have seen Rich's Leon TDI with nitrous on the rollers at JBS a while back. IIRC - 220bhp, not the slightest whiff of smoke, and the smoothest power curve you'll ever see. It was impressive stuff.

Would that be because of the Nitrous providing the extra oxgen do you think ?

Yep definitely. Although I dread to think how much smoke there'd be when the nitrous ran out !

Is Nitrous the same as propane injection? Done straight into inlet manifold?

I'll stick with the 220bhp the old fashioned smokey way.

have to say Ultimate down here is usually around 98.9/99.9, with city diesel 92.9. No way its worth 7p extra for me. I had ultimate in when I was running up to the Midlands for the pod session and I left some serious clouds of smoke on the A46, during brisk roundabout exiting.

I just got the full Milltek fitted yesterday and can report there is less smoke now?
