Seriously guys hid conversion, the future

+1. :) Hids are really good, I have a kit on mine and it is unbelieveable in the dark. ;)

yeah tell them all mark what happens when they are on? the fuzziness through the radio :p

I dont have any fuzziness through the radio with mine, although mine are wired to the battery via a relay.

Get some GTi/Cupra/SX lights on it, totally diffferent animals!

Hmmmmmm  I might have to get myself a set of them.

Ok heres my 2 cents on the this lighgting discussion,
And i'm coming from my experience with standard Ibiza headlights not gti and HID kits in general (I've had 2 and sold about 6 to various firends etc.)
So once again for standard ibiza headlights which have a single H4 bulb for high and low.....

- HID's -

Good Points.....much better light output if you get the right colour (4300k or 6000k, anyhting above is just colour not light, I had an 8000k kit) and it has to be a Bi-Xenon kit! Otherwise you'll just have 1 xenon low beam and a standard halogen high beam.
Look Cool also.

Bad Points.....They blind everybody when driving at night, no doubt about that, you'll get flashed by at least 1/10 cars when your dipped beams are on cause there so bright. Its really annoying!
Also unless you wire them through a relay and possibly a separate fuse they cause interference(fuzzyness) on the radio and the whole concept of Plug and Play is then thrown out the window cause you gotta start crimping, stripping and soldering.

Fog Lights....( H3 bulb Size )

I just wired up mine the last day and there brilliant, much brighter at night! I got a HID kit for mine (3000k) and its great, has really solved my problems with lighting. Also because the Foglights are lower down to road the bright light emmitted friom the HID kit doesnt blind anyone and i've had no problem with people flashing me. I wired mine through a relay to the battery and a switch in the car and jumped them onto the sidelights so they turn on and off with my sidelights (better of cause you could easily forget to turn off a single switch where as if you leave the sidelights on it starts beeping when the door is open)

Bad Points....

Suj doesnt like them.... :p

GTi/Cupra Lights

I cant talk from experience here but I think these probably have a H1 high beam and H7 low beam same as most other modern german designed cars.
There definetly brighter because of having 2 separate bulbs for High and Low but there also probably much dearer than buying a set of fog lights!

So in my opinion if you have standard Ibiza headlights and you wanna improve visibility without any grief get yourself a set of fog lights with good bulbs or a HID kit

Mine in total cost me €75 inlc. Delivery to Ireland
€25 for second hand fogs
€40 for HID kit
€10 for wiring, relay, spade terminals etc....

Should add to the fog bad points that it's actually illegal to use them when it's not foggy.

ie. Can't see 100m infront of your car.

You could get pulled and have a £30 fine thrown at you, like me :(

1) fogs are illegal (unless foggy)
2) everyone (not just me) thinks it looks stupid
3) blind everyone even more

;)

I really think your mistaken about it being illegal as many cars now a days that come standard with fog lights have them running once the dipped beams are on by default!
I've never passed a golf/a3/a4/passat/ any car with fog lights that doesnt have them running when there dipped beams are on!
And they're not more blinding than a HID kit on your headlights...Thats a fact!
Also if people don't like the look of them thats just taste but there the most cost efficient way of improving the light on standard ibiza's

Actually its still illegal, the mk5 ibiza boys have problems that when they turn left/right that corresponding side fog goes on

It is illegal, and I never really liked HID's neither ;)

My mate has a Ford Focus ST and he has like 8k HID's in both his Headlights and Fogs and he has never got a bitta bother, i hate being on front of him at night lol. Blindeddd.!

Dont think the Irish Gardai care much for the Foglights on as everyone has them on over here.
Also with the weather we're having its very bad, so fogs are more likely to be on lol.

Anyways, i've decided to Order some Osram Nightbreakers.
i also was going to call over and ask about the Seat Ibiza over the road, but i cant wire up fogs for the life of me, so im gonna leave them, incase i immob the car. :)

my 2 penny's

HIDS when setup you don't get flashed(never been flashed)
there BRIGHT AS FOOK! i can see for MILES
once wired in right there is 0 interference.
sidelight resister needs taking out then your sorted for any flickering (not even 2 seconds)

bad erm resets clock ever 1/10 times

having fogs on is a 30pound fine and 3 points so having them on is a nono over here!

(Gti Lights are H1 main H1 dipped and 501 side)

cost: 25 quid for HIDS TOTAL!

its worth getting the HIDS for the headlights! it makes the fogs obsolete! i cant even see them when i turn em on as the HIDS are so bright!

My H4 bi-xenon hids came with a relay and all the connections attached etc, all I had to do was connect them up. And guess what, no fuzziness with the radio.

With my old hid low/halogen high 6000k kit I got flashed alot of the time but now with my bi-xenon 4300k kit I hardly ever get flashed at for them being to bright.

Tbh they are no brighter than the lights you get on some of the newer cars.

Ps don't get me wrong, don't mind people with HIDs, I hate people with fogs on in unfoggy conditions

If you use them in these conditions, hope you get pulled!

Blinding by lights is so scary! and wrong!
