This has really upset me.

SCN is a place to give honest opinions, feedback and advice, not a place to hurl abuse or make untrue accusations. Thankfully the fellow posters have leapt to my defence based on their own experiences.

I have never said Im a technician - Im just a bloody good parts man with 20 years experience, tha last 7 with SERE and SEAT. I have built cars and bikes, worked with cars since I was 12, and a generally good guy (well I think so) 23000 views of 'how to order parts and contact me' with no real complaints that I know of should speak volumes . . . .

Oh and the fact Im the top parts man in Northern Ireland and Scotland 2 years running, plus SERE is Dealer of the Year, plus we won Golden Garages last 2 years . . . .

Long story short - Chuggy did not have the conversation with me today so that is untrue for a start. His mechanic did. I was originally asked for an N75 valve which to be fair I do not know exactly what it is or where it is. I asked SEAT and they told how to search for it by SDC code on ETKA. So I arrived at the part number I supplied John. He rang to say it was wrong, and then let his mechanic do the complaining. The guy got got my back up from the start because apparently he knows everything and I know nothing. We agreed to disagree. A part number for the item actually required was then given which according to SEAT is a cut-off valve, not an N75, and I said I would refund the incorrect part, posting the requested one out first thing Monday free of charge to compensate for the hassle.

Yes, I accept I may not have been my usual helpful self, but you get what you give? Have a go and I'll bite back!

I suspect John Chugg is caught in the middle between me and his mechanic, so I will still be posting out the part free of charge on Monday. Im just disappointed that he couldnt have called me back himself man to man rather than make a faceless complaint via SCN.

I wont be posting on this thread again so make up your own mind people.
SERE prides itself on customer service, honesty and integrity and I feel I have acted in this spirit dealing with this.

Yeah Dave great reliable helpful guy.
I have dealt with him loads of times spending approx £1500 and wouldn't deal with anyone else.
Anyway in Daves defence he is a parts person and is good at what he does, he does not claim to have mechanical experience.
Also you say that you gave him a part number is that the number that you received?

I've had a LOT of parts off David, some SEAT, some AUDI and not always high value or even easy to find items. He's always gone out of his way to help find every single part I've asked for, even when MK Seat couldn't 'find' the part he's always come up trumps.

You won't find a nicer parts man to deal with and if he sold Honda parts, i'd be using him still.

I agree with thats been said above... A very kind and helpful guy, that you would struggle to find elsewhere.

I've seen numerous threads where people have have asked for something and Dave has been honest enough to tell them its cheaper elsewhere (whether his boss knows this or not!), so he's not just in it for a "quick sale" like many other sales/parts guys. He does try his best to help, which all the awards both him and his garage have won show.

Just thought I would throw in my two cents.

I have used Dave at Sere motors many times now and have always had a top service. Always very friendly and professional and on the plus he has always been cheaper than my local dealer.

I have always been a happy customer.

Don't worryDave we got your back :).

Alright guys , just had a rather unpleasant conversation with david at seres (who works at seat so is right !!)

Basicaly i orderd an N75 valve ,Recived a n249 , rang up seres to get it sorted , well apparently N75 is a fault code not a part (new one on me ) , After trying to get the part sorted i gave up , david works for seat so who's right !! was his response when i tryed to explain what i wanted ,

The Customer service is a joke at that place , and i wont be buying any parts again from them you dont speak to customers like that !!!,

Thought id share my frankly shocking experience with david at seres ,

No such part ,ok what controls my actuator david , what do awsome gti sell....... N75 valves .

so i woudnt hold much hope for anything else to do with seres , avoid imho ,

Chuggy
Maybe you should just get your stuff from Halfords then! I hear their customer service is second to none.

David is an absolute diamond geeza. I am always astounded how helpful someone who doesnt know me can be even when he is not even trying to sell me something and reffering me elsewhere if its better for me. I think u should fire that grease monkey of yours and you should be banned for not finding out the full story before opening your gob in public.

So Basically hes come on here to rant without posting the full story :ban:

As Said Numerous times above Dave is By Far the best Seat Parts guy out there, Goes well out of his way to help and knows his stuff! I dont expect him to know what every single little Valve or pipe or wire does on a car.

So the Ratio is 1 Rant: Thousands of Thanyou's

I say Keep up the Good Work Dave and SERE, More awards coming your way in 2012 i would put money on it

As above. David is a legend, ive dealt with alot with never a wrong part sent and always well priced. if i was you i would have rung him before having a rant about him on a forum where he his highly regarded. would have saved the embarrassment

I feel I have to stick up for Dave on this one, echoing what everyone else has said. He has helped me on a number of occasions, even sending screenshots of etka when I couldn't describe the parts to him. Great customer service 100% of the time.

yes i gave him a part number philc , and i appreciate the fact theres a lot of happy customers ! was myself until today ! up until today he's always being good but.....

The fact remains when i ring seat dealer parts i expect them to know what an n75 is /does not be sent a n249 valve and certainly not to be told it is a fault code (which i know it isnt ,vw or SAE ) then to have him argue with me and say " i work for seat so who's right !!!" amongst other sarcastic agreeing to differ comments ! .this is not good customer service is it !! . besides the fact its bad info .

Im entitled to my opinion and arnt really botherd whether people agree with me or not ,im stating what happend today with seres .
and as a result will know longer be using them

simples

chuggy

Three suggestions if I may be so bold:

1) When in a hole.......

2) Something along the lines of "Sorry David, I clearly over reacted and was clearly having a bad day "

3) People will take you more seriously if you use "no longer" rather than "know longer", "there's" instead of "theres", "aren't" instead of "arent" etc etc. The occasional capital letter in the correct place would help too.

Dom

p.s. If my third point feels a little personal it is meant to. Just think how David must have felt when he read your initial rant.....
