No, but the exhaust valve guides seem not as tight as the inlets so that may be an issue too. I think I'll have to get new exhaust guides too. Two of the exhaust side seals were definately knackered though, could see it after I pulled them out.

Did i see a modded spark plug socket being used for the inlet valves ;) does the job just fine

I'm also using supertech valves in mine and had no probs over the last 5k and couple of track sessions

Looking good, you doing supertech springs and retainers too? Headwork looks good, can really see why you would get gains there, How do you know how much to take off it? You going to do rods while you have the head off?

I'm fitting Supertech inconel exhaust valves, that's it, to eliminate the weak 2-piece OE valves.

All I'm doing is shaping and smoothing the inlet ports in so the air flows smoothly in from the SEM manifold without having to use the big transition spacer plate. Exhaust ports will be smoothed and polished, not enlarging them as this will only cause lag, inlets left slightly rough but not polished, to promote atomisation.

Yes I am doing rods, IE rods and OE rod bearings on order.

I have decided to do new piston rings too as the bores look like they need a bit of a hone. I have found a UK supplier of the FlexHone tool so have ordered one.

(couple of parts up for sale to help fund this build in the sales section now.)

Wow, I can't believe you still have this car!

I remember when it was all just at the beggining and you got RS6 wheels for it!

Still looking good anyway, love the larger grill on the front bumper.

Danny - yes dremel bits such as carbide burr, carbon steel brush, abrasive wheels and polishing wheels etc., I'm using the flexi attachment too as it's alot smaller so can get into the ports easier.

I'm almost finished cleaning out all the ports and smoothing them, waiting on a new carbide bit to finish the inlet ports, lots of shiny metal!

Unikarl - yes m8, had it 6 years now and no plans to ever get rid of!

Rob how did you know where the coolant gallerlies were?
Are you just going on that a large port head is just a small port but bored out theory?

Nothing much to update, Royal Mail are doing their best to screw things by taking ages to deliver things! The FlexHone tool arrived for doing the bores, the IE rods and bearings have cleared UK customs (sat in customs for 4 days!) so should be arriving soon. Supertech inconel exhaust valves and a new set of OE piston rings have been ordered from IE.
