Remap pd140

There is every need to log after a map, especially on a tdi which are prone to VNT mechanisms seizing, and on the PD140 lump which isn't known for a strong reliable turbo once mapped.

I would look elsewhere, or if happy with a generic file and you can run logs to check all is ok I'd buy my own file from a reputable file supplier, but that's me.

Hopefully shouldn't be a problem on mine as just had a new turbo.

Sounds like a load of blab tbh very few tuners write especially in this country.. I bet if you get there map and then look at it on an editor its not there's

I don't disbelieve that they write their own, and the only reason I say that is because they are a mate of 2 of my friend/colleagues who confirm this. Most places I see online offer remap by not many include dyno etc as well unless you pay +400.

A local German car specialist quoted me £350 however I am yet to find out what this includes I.e dyno or not or who writes their maps

Problem is Lot of people don't understand what writing actually involves so when they see the guy fiddling on a laptop they think he's writing in truth he's doing FCK all.

If you are worried about reliability or if you have that little faith in your turbo, why do for a remap at all?

Go for a well known and reputable tuner if you do decide you want to go ahead with it. Keep on top of maintenance and look after the car.

I had a mk5 golf gt 140 got the remap when it had 20,000 on clock kept the golf for just over 6 years had no problems at all but as everything you only get what you pay for

Im looking into amd in essex, any thoughts on their maps. All done on dyno before and after. They write their own 400 or I know they do revo too

Unfortunately it really is that easy!

You could buy a generic file for as cheap £45 and flash it yourself, or a file supplied from a reputable tuner can be had for £99, again if you flashed it yourself. If thats not an option, then someone like Revo would be a good bet on a standard car.

Sense the sarcasm!! I thought Amd had a really good reputation on here. They are about the only company near Kent that Ive seen recommended and probably the closest Revo dealer.

On the whole i agree, although certain companies like 'More-Bhp' will sell a device to flash their maps to their cars, similar to the Bluefin device. Many many options out there - Revo would be the closest/easiest/simplest by the sounds of it

Wasnt actually considering doing it myself but its nice to learn how people do these things anyway.
