Recommended Clutches?

I need to replace my clutch for a number of reasons. I'm planning on a Stage 1 CC remap in the near future and i'm getting a strange noise occasionally when changing from 2nd to 3rd. Its a kind of a squeaking noise, almost sounds like a loose/worn gearbox or engine mount but being as i'm not happy with how the clutch feels anyway, i'm going to get it all replaced and ask the mechanic to have a good look around whilst he's doing it.

I've searched through a lot of threads on here for recommendations when replacing a clutch and have come to the conclusion that unless you're going for some mad power gains, a standard flywheel with an uprated clutch and maybe replacing the release bearing/CSC at the same time should suffice.

I'm not willing to blow a grand on a full Sachs setup which would be overkill for my needs, but at the same time i don't want to under-compensate for the increase in power & torque that the remap would give me.

Has anyone bought/had experience with any of these before? (sorry i can't post links yet being a noob!)

Sachs Clutch Kit (euro car parts) - £158.40
LUK Clutch Kit (euro car parts) - £179.94
DriveTorque Stage 1 Fast Road Clutch Kit (Larkspeed) - £246.00

Any recommendations or alternatives?

Car is a 2005 Mk1 Leon FR TDi

Thanks! :)

What about the VR6 sachs clutch? It's a common one on the tdi cars and takes a fair bit of torque.:)

I'm only joking, it depends what your plans are, if you're tuning then best with an upgrade but if you're staying standard then it doesn't really matter. I found the VR6 sachs kit for the same sort of price as the standard and I want to go further with the tuning so it's a good idea for me, the car already has the G60 smf as standard so that's a bonus.:)

I've gone for the kit from eBay that MrBen linked. It won't be fitted for a few weeks yet but I'll post back with how it feels once its in. Hopefully it'll feel a bit more positive than the current item!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Those techniclutch kits of eBay look very reasonable - I'll be investing in one myself.

I'd never fit a QH clutch to a cupra R mainly because they're crap. Normal price average quality, start tuning then you'll need to upgrade. You can get a sachs or luk clutch for that price.

The g60 clutch isn't bolt-on on the later tdi engines - you'd have to fit the machining flywheel and make sure the clutch splints were the same for it to fit.

Gotta order a kit, looked at DriveTorque which is half the price of the ebay'd SACH link in this thread.

With the SACH kit, is the pedal heavier than standard? How's the judder accelerating from low revs?

Have you fitted your kit yet?

Check they actually have a clutch in stock, I found a site online advertising the sachs kit really cheap but they never have them in stock.
