Rear shock top mounts

So I've had a light knock/rattle over small bumps and found play in the rear shock top mounts.

Got some new mounts and went to change them last night and I've got a problem. The new shock mounts are identical to the old ones, except there is a plastic bush inside the old one and not the new one.

Spoke to my man at Andrew Page he has no bush listed, spoke to Seat and I might as well have asked my dog she would have been more help.

Anyone know what part I'm on about and got a part number?

It's a 05 TDI fr if that makes any difference.

Cheers Tom

Why are you replacing the top mount?

Has your car the rear dampers out at some point?

I changed the bump stop on mine in november (old has split) and i did not tighten the small bolt that attaches the damper to the top mount, and that caused a knocking.

Off came the rear dampers again, tightened up the small nut as much as i could and it refit. This stopped the knocking.

I'm changing the top mount because it's done 115k and there's play in it, I tried tightening the nut on top of the damper made no difference.

I was going to say it has no moving parts, there's no bearing in it to fail.

I take it you diagnosed to knocking noise yourself? You could try getting a 2nd opinion from a mechanic. It could be a whole host of things causing the knocking.

If the bolt at the top of the damper that attaches it to the top mount is fully tightened then there isnt anything else in the rear top mount that could cause the knocking, unless the top mount isnt secured to the car properly.
