HI all, I'm new..

I own a Leon SE 1600 16v

I am fed up with my old tatty worn gear knob and want a nicer one, preferrably with a nice silver trim to it, similar to some later cupra/frs???? however I have both a black cupra and vw gear Knob whihc both wont fit as the part that attaches to the gear stick is the same as the part on the gear stick that oit is supposed to attach to. if that makes sense!

so basically what higher spec ones will fit my (5 speed, push down reverse) leon SE 16v gearbox!!!!

:)

Cool, isnt it lairy looking?

I will check one out in my local auto store!

otherwise what standard ones fit?

I think its great. feels good in the hand, and the gaitor leather fits around it perfectly.

As for standard ones SEAT Sport have a wide range but you will need to order through a dealer - I have the catalogue at home in PDF format. let me know if you want it

Seat Sport once available from Seat dealers are very nice, but DAMN expensive! You can get some fairy subtle looking Momo ones these days, including ones that don't look a million miles off the Seat ones, so I'd check out their range personally. Or, sit tight and wait for a Seat Sport one to crop up in the For Sale section or eBay.

I've been waiting ages for one to pop up on ebay :(

£90 from the dealer! Although we have to press down on the knob to engage reverse I'm guessing we don't have to buy a special gearknob as in lift reverse etc...

I wouldn't have thought so as the entire mech pushes down so in theory the knob should sit on top of it all happily? I don't think the actual gear knob plays a part in it.

I think Pabs did a step-by-step guide to changing the gear knob which should help. They have been moved to the guides section on this website now :)

Also I think the internals of 'my knob/stick' are different to that of the one on the guide, probably due to different gearbox?? not sure so it will be interesting!
