i used to have a 2006 1.4 16v sport and never saw more than 300 miles to a tank once. usually around 280. absolutely hopeless engine (75ps version not the 100)

went alright, but had to drive it hard to get any joy from it.

i can drive my FR, never going over 2,000 revs and its quicker than the 1.4 16v, and it'll easily do 440 miles - 5 miles to work and back, twisty roads, the odd trip into town 15 miles.

might have cost me a good £2k to upgrade from the '06 sport to the '54 FR, and its older, with 3x the miles on the clock, but the miles per tank will pay for the extra £s .... fairly soon .. i'm not bothering to do the maths.

tbh though it wouldnt bother me if the FR did only manage 300 to a tank, its a sooo much better car!

my dad has a bora with same engine, (slightly larger fuel tank) and last summer he drove back from the south of france, home (near middlesbrough), on one tank of fuel.

I usually get about 400 with mixed driving from my 130 sport. Not much more though, it could be that your fuel filter needs changing.

well after a calculation im probably getting about 420 to a tank although i didnt let it go down to the warning light so im guestimating lol.... when driving normally (lot of Mway driving) at about 80 mph so i dont think thats too bad.... and after a map it will be abit better and ALOT faster lol hopefully (so ive read and been told)

It may need to replace an o2 sensor. That would be my best bet.

there was a thread a while back about how many miles past 0 you can go. i think some people managed over 50. i've never done more than 20 myself, much rather fill up before 0 really, rather than look a pleb at the side of the road!

tank is 45l and reserve is 7l

I can do 440 miles to a tank. which is about 9 miles per litre. So possible manage 60 miles on the reserve?

What size tank do you have?

My Leon Cupra 1.8T just managed 695 miles from 1 tank of fuel (brimmed at 52 ltrs) on a drive down to Italy.

Drove it till it was on fumes. (Not recommended)

Had to drive like my grandad down the motorways (60-65mph) and that takes some doing!

Any other Cupra drivers done the the same from 1 tank of fuel?

I find common items can be overlooked at services, i bought a p reg corsa, which had a full main dealer history, had 80k, yet the spark plugs looked like the originals!

Some garages plug them in and thats it if they find no faults, and dont do the traditional checks.

If the plugs look like they havent been changed then you need to claim back the money you paid for your service as you are paying them to change the plugs. This happened to my dad when he took his car for a service, I just happened to look in the engine bay after the sevice and noticed dirty old plugs, plugs he had been charged for in the service receipt.
He took the car back and got the plugs renewed!

my ibiza cupra tdi is only doing 30mpg!!!!!! any ideas? recently serviced BUT i checked the air filter and though did not look clogged was a bit grey and black at the edges. It has done about 8000miles since last changed. As it cost me£30 i don't want to just change it if it is not the culprit.
diesel here in rayleigh essex is 97.9 so at least the pain ain't too bad

the Leon tank is bigger than the Ibiza...my cousin manages nearly 600 miles around London compared to my 400. hopefully that helps a tad :D
