Hey Folks,
Thought id introduce myself.
Im Dave from Partsulike and wanted to come on here direct with a couple of you emailing re the LED KIT upgrades we do and the number plate lights and causing error messages. It appears this is an issue for the face lift / newer SEATS.
Ive spoken to our supplier and the canbus element is whats likely to cause the problems.
If i can try and keep it simple.
This is an example only and not necessarily the correct figures.
If the rear bulbs use 10w of power then anything below that would create the error message. Meaning that there is a bulb out.
LEDS use very little power as you know and the canbus LEDS that we sell simply have a built in chip to almost trick the car into thinking the LED is using more power than it actually is. This creates quite a bit of heat.
Sadly the chip can only fool it into thinking so much power as it would get too hot. So for example. The car requires 10w. A normal LED will use 3w. A canbus LED will give an extra 5w making the total 8w. Meaning there is still a 2w shortfall. Thus causing the error message.
We have ordered some new chips that simply connect direct to the wires which are due in over the next couple of weeks. Ill try and get a picture posted up.
If anyone has purchased some LEDS from us and are getting the error messages from the number plates, please could you drop me an
email Dave at partsulike . co . uk
with your full name and post code so i can track your order with us. Id also be interested in the age of your car to see if it is the newer ones that are the problem.
We are currently having a new website designed and will make sure we distinguish between the two variants.
Regards
Dave
