Niiicee.. That centre console looks strange.. I think its because I have never seen it before.. So what has happened to the bump strip? The car looks awesome, but mate, get the bucket and sponge out lol.. Cupra headlights are a definite for me.. And rear spacers..

Car looks good mate.. Pics of the LED lights please..

Oh.. One more thing.. Where do you buy the LED sidelight bulbs from? The ones with a sh*t load of LED's on. Standard yellow/white lights suck..

Cheers dude..

Just a little experiment, as I need a new fog light anyway. Any thoughts?

LED's in the foglights? Nice - very OEM!

As usual, that was the effect I was going for; OEM but not. I've got the other fog light in the kitchen atm, just wondering if I should do it or not... Would be nicer to run with that, when I'm feeling 'chavvy' than outright fog lights (bearing in mind I'm putting HIDs in them :D)

How did you remove the dials and twiddly bits etc...and make it smooooooooth?? :)

Body filler :D local auto parts shops generally sell them for a fiverish... or halfords for double that ;) fill it, sand it, paint it matt black ;)

Okay, minor update for now. Damn bump strip is giving me trouble. Note to all, make sure you don't have flakes of paint/laquer/filler primer (<= especially!) in the place where you want to do the weld. It just burns and fowls up the join. :censored:

Anyway, got a new set of rear lights on the way to me, got plans to outfit them with LEDs, since no one seems to do a nice aftermarket LED kit for them. ALSO, big matter here, found THIS in my wanderings a few days ago, and has got me thinking, the Golf mirror is Identical (as far as I could see) to the golf one, soooo, am speaking to David at Sere, may have some good news on stubby mirrors :)

Why go through all that when you can get one from eBay.de for £25 that fits straight on with just 3 screws? Seems like an awfully long winded and complex way of doing it.

I'm lazy. Would rather spend the time sussing that out than having to look over my shoulder all the time. Besides, what am I going to say when I sell it? TBH, was originally going to kill off the passenger side in favour of 2 big mirrors, but I saw how close you can park to stuff with stubby's and I just couldn't resist. Oh, and the kids won't be able to have quite such a field day with the drivers mirror, if they feel the urge, and i'll know, if they do, how to fix it :) To be honest, I just like taking things apart, it fascinates me :p

Updates please Owen.. How have the rear lights come along.. We need more pictures :)

Ha! I've only just got the light clusters apart. I'll do pics for the other side. This one's strictly development! Got a shiny new DSLR, but I won't be taking any pics of Ellie until she has at least had a wash!

Oh, and the Arosa mirror idea didn't work [:@] Waste of £80. Ah well. Got the mirror and cover to use. If I grab a LHD one of ebay.de (as Ndbrgr said in the first place ) and fit my holder and mirror...I think that might work...

Shame about the Arosa mirror, why didn't it work?

I've got heated blue Arosa glass to go in mine, as its useless at the moment. All I can see in it is the side of my car and the back seats.

Completely the wrong sized hole. If I spent the time, it's likely possible to find one thats right, but it's just not worth it. Think ebay.de is the way forward, but I don't know if its the wingmirror frame or the plastic glass holder that decides where the mirrors aimed. IF it's the holder, swap it over, jobs a goodun. If not, live with it and back to VAG-Cat for more part numbers :(

Thats the reason why I want to get around it, it's nice looking at your car, the shiny paintwork etc, but if you're trying to pull into the fast lane for example, you do need to see more than that....

Okay... I lied. Got some free time, so put some work into the rear lights.

Don't worry about the state of it. The lense was broken already, I just wanted it off to look inside.

Again, just for now, will be matte black when I'm finished.

Comparison to stock reflector.

DSC077.jpg

Woop! Cardboard Template. Not taking any risks on anything more valuable... OH! and something interesting thing to help do it, cut the inside to shape (very easy) then for the outside, push the cardboard onto the corner of the reflector, and it gives you the profile of the outer edge of the reflector, leaving you this

And as far as I got...

Interestingly, I think I'm going to leave the reverse reflector alone... what do you think?

That is...almost it. Also got a little guide if you're feeling clever.
