the hoses connect onto the sandwich plate. Doesnt matter which way round. Fairly easy to do as long as you can remove the bumper yourself.

cooler wouldnt go at front of bumper as the fittings for the oil hoses fouled the crash bar when the bumper was refitted. Have now mounted it vertically against the radiator. Hopefully fit the sandwich plate over the weekend and then see what difference it makes.

What do you have it fixed to?

will try and get some pics at the weekend rick if the weather is decent. The cooler is bolted to the plastic deflector in front of the radiator and attached at the top on the bar running across the radiator.

yeah plate screws onto block where filter attaches at present and then the filter screws onto the sandwich plate. I think i ordered about 4m of hose which was plenty. You need to use plenty of ptfe tape on the threads for the fittings that screw into the sandwich plate or else it will leak when oil is warm as i found out :(

ah right i see, wasnt sure where to connect the ends, do you think its a worthwhile mod? what are the gains from it? gonna put mine where the drivers ic was, is the hose ready cut lengths and braided? or can you make it your own length.

you can order the hose in any length and cut to suit. It is worthwhile especially if you do track days or drive the car hard. Keeps the oil temp to a normal level which will prolong the life of the oil and engine/turbo. Before i was seeing temps upto 150C ... now no more than 110C.

Is it a questions of unsrew and screw in on the block and filter side? Does the filter stay in the stock position as looking at mine its one big bloody filter!

yeah filter stays in normal position though does get close to lower intercooler pipe. Just unscrew filter, screw on sandwich plate and then filter back onto plate. Easy as that. If you have a fmic it will give more room as you wont have the lower intercooler pipe.

do you have to change the oil when you do this? or drain it?

you are probably best doing an oil and filter change at the same time as some oil will leak when the filter is removed.

well ill wait till 30,000 miles to do it, put castrol RS in it at 20 thou, and that cost a bomb, changed oil myself though to save cost,

so take off filter, screw pancake piece in then the pipes into that, in and out, then the filter back over the top, route the pipes to the cooler and re fil, is this correct, whats the thermostat for? where does it go to?

thermostat is built into the adaptor and allows the oil to warm up quicker. When oil is above 80C it will open allowing the oil to flow through the cooler ( just like the thermostat in a radiator). Without out the oil might not reach proper temp or would take ages

yeah is fitted as you said. No power needed for thermostat.. it opens due to the heat. I bought a mocal 16 row cooler from demon tweeks. A 13 row will probably work as well..wont cool quite as much though. http://www.thinkauto.com/ good link for mocal cooler. I have the 235mm one.
