Oh one more question :)

Do you have to prime the cooler on first start up?

Cause i calculated my cooler holds 1.2L of oil excluding the lines
must ba a big cooler as the tubes inside are quite small

Its a setrab cooler like a rs4 one.

I just calculated the volume of the cooler by dxwxh = 40x484x61 = 1.2l

Was going to go for the 40x491x133 cooler, thought against it tho maybe to much cooling.

going to fit it myself. Had the bumper off today to measure it. Hopefully get it within the next week.

cooler wouldnt go at front of bumper as the fittings for the oil hoses fouled the crash bar when the bumper was refitted. Have now mounted it vertically against the radiator. Hopefully fit the sandwich plate over the weekend and then see what difference it makes.

Could you not have removed a little material from the crash bar ?

I had to do this for my FMIC.

Also IIRC there is some very good info on mocals site, on the routing of the hoses & whats good & whats not.

would have had to cut quite a bit away. Where it is mounted now is actually smoother for the hoses.... less bends

got the cooler fitted today. Sandwich plate fits fine and still able to use standard oil filter without hitting lower intercooler pipe. Normal motorway speeds (70-80mph) temp is about 110C instead of just over 120C. The biggest difference is at higher speeds or when using full throttle/revs. The temp used to regulary sit at 150C where as now it does not rise above 120C even when sitting flat out. Definately a worth while mod i think.

Good results!

How many rows was your cooler again? 13 or 16 you said. Also I take it is a 235 matrix?

yeah 16 row by 235mm. Fitted vertically in front of radiator. Couldnt mount it centrally as the horns are in the way so it is offset towards the offside. Didnt even need to drill holes for mounting brackets as there is a shield at the bottom which i managed to use the mounting screws there for the brackets attached to the cooler.

just a quick update... in the colder weather the temps have really dropped.. now seeing 90C normal motorway driving. Sitting stationary doesnt go above 110C. Hard driving doesnt go above 110C.
