Noise after cambelt change

My Leon 2.0 TDI 170 PD has just over 42k miles but is now over 5 years old so I've decided to change cam belt and water pump. Left it yesterday at Jardine Seat in Milton Keynes. Also decided to do large service at the same time.

Today, in the morning, went to pick it up.
First thing I was told what has been done. Then I've been told that the engine is loud when cold and that it is fine but I should keep an eye on it just in case it gets louder.

After paying £609 I went to start the car. After starting it an error shows up straight away that there is no coolant.
Switched the engine off and opened the hood. I was a bit surprised that the coolant bottle cap is not on at all, just left in front of the windscreen. Also coolant level was way under the minimum.
Went back in for them to sort it out. It took them few minutes to fill it up and warm up the car. Went home thinking that it's not a great thing to happen when you pick your car up from cambelt job.

When I drove to work in the afternoon something didn't feel right. Engine didn't sound like it used to couple of days ago. Didn't have time to listen to it closely.

Just few minutes ago after finishing work I started the car and straight away some kind of strange noise comes out. Drove it few meters and it gets worse. It is like a tapping noise that goes together with revs. Plus, a whining noise when I press and release the accelerator. Both these noises were definitely not there when I left the car at the garage yesterday.

What should I do now?

1.Call Jardine Seat and tell them about them?
I assume that they will book it in for next week, charge me for diagnostic and say that it was like that before.
2. Call Seat HQ straight away and tell them about the issue?
3. Get an RAC to check my car and see what they say and have it on paper and then go back to seat?

Get them to collect the car from you and get it fixed asap, im sure with seat they could provide some sort of courtesy car with it being their fault, with it being the timing belt im guessing they havent fitted it correctly ie not TDC?
I really wouldnt drive the car while its making that noise

I'm afraid that the timing is screwed and it will f*** up my engine. The problem is to have them say that it is their fault and not being charged another £500+

I woke up in the morning to listen to the car a bit more and take it back to seat and... the noise is gone!
Is it possible that it was noisy because of -5 degrees outside?

Yes, it sounds fine. No problem with boost or anything like that. It feels really good when I accelerate with new oil and all filters. Just that sound yesterday when engine was cold.

Yesterday when I started the car in the morning everything seemed fine but again when coming back from work the noise came back and was even worse.
Today got up and dropped off the car back at dealers but again the noise was gone .
They said they will check what they've changed (cam belt and water pump) but I am prepared for the phone call on Monday that they can't find anything wrong and possibly that they will do further checking at additional cost.

Yesterday I opened the bonnet when it was knocking. It's like someone is hitting cam belt cover (or close to it) with a small hammer. Really scary.

Left my car at Seat but can't stop thinking what could they have cocked up.
Was going through youtube videos and found this which is very similar to what mine has.
Also the guy's comment says

"Idling knocking noise. Only when stopped, in any gear. Was there one day, gone the next, now back. Had timing belt replaced less than yr ago. Sounds coming from belt area"
which is exactly like mine, just timing belt changed last week.
Here's the video:

Take the alternator belt off and start the car then see if the noise is still there, im thinking worn tensioner but surely it wouldnt happen after a cambelt change though. Is your engine facing the way as the link aswell?

No it doesn't. Video is taken from a Passat engine.
Yeah I did think it is a bad tensioner as well but would they touch alternator belt to change cam belt?
Or it might be a faulty cam belt tensioner?

You need to remove the alternator belt for access to change the cam belt, if the cam belt tensioner was at fault i think you would have a dead engine by now.. If possible remove cam belt cover and see if the cam belt is still tensioned. Have you had a reply back from SEAT as yet?

Left it yesterday but they didn't touch it yet. Will need to wait and see what they say tomorrow.

Picked up the car today. I've been told that it was a "fan belt" not properly aligned?
They said that they started the car on Saturday but it was all good. When started today it was really badly knocking. It was sorted before 10 am when I called.

Drove it for few miles and it's was quiet so hopefully it is all good now and I can get my car for de-dpf at $hark in March.

BTW is there a way to check timing with VCDS?
