New Cupra Leon V2 missing two features

Hi folks.

Just registered here after taking delivery of my Cupra Leon V2 Estate 1.5 DSG. Have to say it’s pretty impressive. However two things shown in the brochure and which I was expecting are missing:-

No Cupra mode in the driving profiles. The Cupra button cycles between comfort/performance and individual and the on screen selections don’t have a Cupra mode to select.

Brochure says it should have Cupra black brake calipers but they are a regular aluminium/steel.

I contacted the dealer who has contacted head office but says they are brochure errors and the brochure has a disclaimer that inaccuracies may occur. I understand they need to cover themselves however both missing things are Cupra specific features so I feeling miffed they are missing.

Anyone else had similar issues and had a resolution or anyone offer any advice?

Some features are engine- and/or trim-specific in the model range, not Cupra-specific.
I bought a Cupra Ateca 1.5TSI recently and it doesn't have Cupra profile either, there are only Comfort, Sport and Individual like yours.
Cupra profile is specific to the 2.0 engines and 4x4 models in the Ateca range.
And yes, unfortunately brochures can be misleading sometimes.

Thanks. Yes both features are listed as being relevant to my model/trim in the brochure. I’m thinking the least they could do is replace the calipers?

Black TRW calipers and Cupra mode are reserved to VZ models.

It's not only the caliper - the discs are larger.
That’s not what their brochure says though.

@kevinyork, but as the dealer you contacted has said, the brochure isn’t always correct.

Having owned VW‘s previously, historically their marketing and product literature invariably has contained errors so you can’t always rely on it being accurate.

There‘s usually an overriding statement in product literature along the lines of;

‘Cupra is committed to a policy of continuous product development and reserves the right to make changes to the specifications, colours and prices without notice. The information in this brochure can therefore be given as guidance only.‘

I’ve found historically with VW - and presumably with the other VAG brands too - ‘product development’ can also mean items of spec being deleted in pursuit of cost saving policies as well as product enhancements.

Hindsight‘s a wonderful thing, but it’s always worth doing plenty of research before buying a new car. Even then, it’s possible that Cupra might introduce model year spec changes to their vehicle range after a customer places their order, which could mean the spec of the vehicle they get isn’t the same as the one they ordered. If this happens, you would hope the dealer would communicate the spec changes to customers affected, although if Cupra dealers are anything like VW dealers, dealer to customer communication isn’t always great.

Come on, it doesn't take much effort to check before buying.

Proper test drive would tell you if there is Cupra mode. And I bet there are tons of pictures of your version in the webz.

Less powerful models always differ - the brakes, the diff, rear suspension, exhaust etc.

Difference in price does not come out of nowhere.

Agree, it’s well worth putting the effort in before you buy;
  • Research the car manufacture’s own product information, and also check for errors / inconsistencies
  • Watch plenty of video reviews and read plenty of motoring press reviews
  • Find out what discounts are available off the list price of the car you’re considering buying, and if you have an existing car to sell, what price you can realistically expect to get for it
  • Arrange an extended test drive (unaccompanied if possible)
When I bought my current car, the time-served salesperson (15 years at the dealership) conceded I knew more about the car I was buying than he did 🤣. Fully researching available discounts and the value of my existing car meant I was able to negotiate a very good deal too 🙂 👍.
