Thought it was time for another update as it's been a while

Newest addition to the car is a devils own water/meth kit, i managed to get hold of the latest kit with the newer controller that uses boost pressure instead of the map sensor for it's signal (Cheers Bill :) )

After a few messages to Bill and a bit of deciding where to mount it all i finally decided on a position and got to it, the pump is now located where the original MK2 carbon canister used to live in the o/s chassis/inner wing and the water/meth is located directly above in the mk3 washer bottle (hopefully being 6.6 litres means i won't be filling it up all the time)

I've managed to do some basic logging as i'm still learing my way with it all but first impressions are good with intake temps reduced but the big suprise (and also the thing i'm happiest with) is the exhaust temp reduction, which showed even more so on track.

The track wheels have also undergone a colour change as i was to lazy to clean them so decided black would be the best option for hiding the dirt, i've grown to like the colour now so much i'm tempted to do the comps the same colour.

Finally we got round to the last track day of the year at Cadwell Park, again to my suprise the car behaved itself all day and was pulling really well all day, i also managed to keep it on the black stuff this time
The water/meth more than paid for itself out on track with exhaust temps not rising above about 840°C all day (previously i've seen them at almost 1000°C on the same track)

Next on the list unfortunatly it's coming to pieces again as it's developed a thirst for oil which i need to resolve, then i'll try and tidy up the bodywork abit, after that i'm finally moving out so it'll reside in the garage possibly sorn'd untill i get the money to start playing about with it again.

Time for the first update of the new year and unfortunatly not a good one

For a good few months the cars had an oil consumption problem and i've finally decided to pull my finger out and sort it.

After last weeks track day at oulton i got the car straight into the workshop and whipped the head off, i knew it was going to be a little messy in there as when i've had the plugs out i've been able to shine a light down there and see the piston tops are oily.

First thing i found when stripping it was all the head bolts were loose!! i know they were tight when fitted as all were torqued up and then checked again at 500 miles, 1k and approx 2k after it had been run at full boost, i can only assume they've stretched a bit with the use the car gets.

I haven't got round to stripping the head yet but with a torch shone down the exhaust posts it again looks nice and oily, valves stem seals were replaced at rebuild and guides checked and deemed okay, i now plan to strip it all, replace all guides and seals while it's out.

Finally i whipped the pistons out for checking, all looks okay but i modded the oil rings when i fitted them and after talking to a couple of people in the know suspect this is also contributing to the problem so will be replacing them.

Plans now are as follows, new oil rings, valve guides and seals, give everything a damn good clean up, refit with arp bolts and when there finally released a JBS/INA K04 exhaust mani.

I'm hoping to have it all done for the BHP show on may bank holiday but if worst comes to the worst i'll swap some bits and take the cordy round the track.

Thought i'd chuck a pic of the d/p in just so you can see how tight everything is :)

It's been a couple of months since the last update so here goes........

Last few months have been rather eventful to say the least

Firstly the head was rebuilt with new guides, seals etc as required, i got it all fitted back on with the arp bolts and all was looking good, fired her up and as i hoped all was running well, after 5 mins or so of idling it developed a misfire, suspecting a coil i checked and no fault codes shown!!

First thought was it's dropped a valve, after a compression test i found cylinder 3 to have very low to minimum compression :( by now i'm expecting to find a mess inside so set about pulling the head back off again, to my suprise everything was still intact, there was a very small piece of swarf under number 7 inlet valve so this could have been the problem??

I took the head straight back to the company who rebuilt it who stripped and double checked everything they had done but apart from the bit of swarf (i'd since thrown this away) they couldn't fault it, so back to work to refit it all again, second time lucky and all was good with no faults.

I've since covered approx 4-500 miles and used no oil (usually it would have gone through almost a litre by now so i'm happy that problem is sorted.

Next up is removing all the interior trim, i've never been sure if i could cope with a fully stripped car but now i've got the cordy (and after seeing Martin's car stripped and caged i decided i'd do it)
Me being me i decided i'd remove any wiring loom i decided wasn't required, so once again i set about stripping out interior and door looms and binning rear speakers, interion lights, alarm sensors and elecy windows.
I've rebuilt the door looms to retain only the parts i want (central locking and speakers) and the interior loom has been completly stripped and re-made loosing the bits i didn't want.

Now the real fun begins!!

I always doube check what i'm removing before i finish the job (just incase i remove something needed) so i tried my loom with wires cut and all was good.
Roll on friday and i refit it all ready to take to work sat to start cleaning up the inside, it wont start?? check and charge battery and still nothing!! in the end i gave up and called it a night.
After a long day sat i spent a couple of hours in the evening with Martin's car parked next to mine swapping bits between the 2 cars trying to find the fault, not fuses, not relays, not pump, even went as far as to taking the loom from Martin's car into mine but still nothing??

By now i'm thinking the worse so next thing is swap the ecu's, once again nothing, checked timing and that's all okay, i'm running out of ideas now, i decided to whip the plugs out and check them and that is where the problems started, all of them seemed a bit tight ( i always torque them to factoy spec so was a bit suprised to say the least.
After a bit of a battle with no1 i heard the crack and thought here we go, only to pull the socket out with the plug and electrode but no end!! sh!t it's snapped in the head, the rest of the plugs got coated and left soaking in wd40 while i decided wether or not to pull the head off yet again :(
I managed to get the other 3 plugs out and then with a bit of persuasion and a multispline socket the remains of no1.

After checking no1 bore as best possible and sucking any possible debris out with the airline i fitted a new set of plugs and bang it sprung straight into life :)

No2 plug looks very sooty but all others appear to be okay, i'll be doing a lot of logging and checking in the week to see what happens to the new plugs and try and figure out what's going on.

I'll post some recent pics up once i get them off the camera

Thanks for reading :)

Glad you sorted it mate, it would of been a shame if you had to use the cordoba on track next week.

I'm liking your slimmed down loom, might have to get to work in mine :)

I don't think the weather will bother me that much, i'd like a nice warm day like the previous ones have been but i reckon a bit of rain could make it interesting ;)
