What does money get you?

I need new alloys - old ones are losing air, corroded and bubbling.

Refurb Co want £100 a corner and the car must be off the road for 5 days. I can't do that.

I've seen a few sets I like for £400 - now I know you all might frown on that - but apart from looks, what does money get you with alloys?

Will a £400 set fall apart in a year or two or buckle easily, or do you just pay extra for cosmetics?

Cheers all,
Gav

Brand new. There's some Oz, Dezent or Dotz five spoke types for between £350 and £450.

Will they be crap?

I wouldn't be a fan of Dezent or Dotz wheels tbh, but they should be fine in terms of quality. OZ are a good make, some of their wheels are the best lightweight wheels on the market.

Personally I think you could find a much better set of wheels in your budget by buying 2nd hand. Can get some good bargains...mine were newly refurbished 2 piece RH ZW1 splits from Germany and only cost around £500. The only advantage of brand new is that you can be sure they will be structurally sound and in perfect condition.

Hope this is not a stupid question!

But just received alloys from a mate to sell for him, so I thought I would try them on my Ibiza, the space between the locking nuts are correct, however the hole in the center is to small for it to slip on the wheel of my Ibiza, is there any possible way I could fit these on?

Fitment help please. I have an Ibiza fr facelift and am going to fit some 16 inch wheels. They are 7.5 inch wide and the offset is et35. Will these go straight on?
Thanks in advance!

Should do yes!

Edit: to be the same total diameter you will need 45 profile tyres and probably best to stick to 205 width

Thanks for your reply. The tyres are fine they are 205/45 etc. was tinkling more about clearance on the suspension really. I'm pretty sure the brakes won't cause an issue. Don't suppose you know the width and offset of standard fr facelift alloys? (17 inch!)
