didnt say it needed to be cheap or easy ;) i just fancy OEM ones over aftermarket bulbs..just because i'm worried of chopping wiring on a new car!

been offered some new headlights for the ibiza by cousins boyfriend who works for motor save.
there the BMW halo lights style.
thing I'm not sure about is the little grills next to the headlights need to be taken out cause there longer. not sure if will look right then, will change the look of the front end a lot i think.

that puts me off and then will i loose use of the electronic hight adjuster.

seen them in the dark last night but he wouldn't let me have them for today to see what they look like on the car.
supposed to be coming round when he gets out of work but once again it will be too dark. but will be seeing him tomorrow for turkey.

might have to buy some hids though instead

ok,

just so that you know the cupra never came with the HID option. I think it was to do with the fmic and the room needed for the washer jets and the fluid tank

so if you do the mod you will probably struggle to get the washers to fit and they are a legal requirement for OEM HID's

good luck with it tho

yer xenons are an option when you buy from new. When i bought mine in june, the xenon option was £300. So i'm sure the part will be at least that, more than likely more expensive! Id've happily paid the extra £300, but the standard delivery time when you choose any option is 12 weeks! and i needed the car in 4 weeks, so that was that. O well.

good job i aint got a cupra then... might ring a few peeps in the know next week and see how much they'll set me back...

as for washers? surely if they werent on the car when i bought it then i wouldnt need them...because if i put aftermarket HID's into the car i wouldnt? :S

in theory if you fit aftermarket hids, you would need auto levelling and washers...although this isn't actually stated anywhere, this is the grey area.

surely if it isn't stated then it isn't law, inocent until proven guilty and all that!
if somthing isnt stated as legal dosen't make it illegal by default

no but i've read somewhere, that as thats the law for the oem kits, it should apply to the aftermarket kits too...A similar thing happened with another mod, window tints maybe?? can't remember....I hear what your saying, and i'd argue that myself, but i'd rather not risk it, just for the sake of some bulbs neway.

 yeah another good point mate,
if the lights are that crap you need to argue law to get better ones i'd just drive during the day:p

Fitted my Xenon HID kit today with no problems what so ever.

The ballasts are held in place securely with cable ties at the moment, I'm going to B&Q tonight for some heavy duty velcro and I'll fix them in more secure tomorrow.

Will take some pics of them fitted, and powered on even although they don't picture that well, but they look immense!

With regards to MOT, mines sailed through with them on in my Toledo - and my friend had his Bora with the same kit pass too at a different testing centre.

and you fitted these to a mk4 ibiza pd130? I'd also be very interested to see where you fitted the ballasts etc...and how you went about passing the cables through the plastic cover on the back of the headlights etc...pics of your hids fitted and turned on would be awesome....and a comparison to a standard halogen bulbed car next to yours would be even better!

Nice work m8

It's dark outside so these are not very clear, I meant to take a photo of the beam hitting my Dad's car but I forgot.

These are photos of the wiring.

Will get better photos tomorrow when its daylight and hopefully not raining so I can get them fired into place.

The ballast on the passenger side will be getting fitted between the battery and the wing, I'm yet to find somewhere suitable for the drivers side one.

Hope this helps

PS - This is a picture of my Toledo with HID's http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v621/chr15b/SeatMeet_310306/SeatMeetMarch06020.jpg

i would want the most legal looking if you know what i mean:p
