mk3 wing mirrors on a mk2?

Why not, would look good, sure if the door cards are the same the fixings for the mirrors will be. Shell is pretty much the same apart from the shape around the lights!

Go for it, im trying to find some myself!!

Yeah they do, still havnt fitted mine. Only problem i have came across is that the manual adjustment mechanisms are different. Just cut them off and move the glass by hand

Would the electric plugs be the same from model to model. Or would it be worth grabbing the plug off the loom and splicing it into it to get it to work????

Anything can be done in my eyes, should be easy enough if the plugs dont match. Just cut and re-wire

Am I right in thinking that the mk3 mirrors are odd sized/shaped. So the passenger wing mirror is a stubby version of the drivers??IMO make sit look a bit silly

They do fit but some re-wiring is involved.

I'm just wiring Mk3 looms into Mk2 mirrors as i prefer them, Roly has done the same with his so i'm pretty sure you could do it.

I've got a pair of Mk3 mirrors for sale if anyone is interested?

So basically with a bit of wiring magic, it can be done. That's cool - surely it's only a couple of wires per side?

I know the door shape is the same so I thought that it should be possible - just wanted to check and I was wondering if anyone had done it before.

It's just that the standard mk2 ones are so, so square, I don't think they suit the car at all.

I'll try to do this mod in the summer (when I'm not so skint!).

iv got a german stubby mirror in my garage Just need a UK one

5 wires in drivers mirror 3-motor 2-heater element

7 in passanger mirror 3-motor 2-heater element 2-external temp sensor

the plugs are different sizes so you have to cut and splice the wires but easy enough to do
