Difference of opinion there, i suppose the only way I'll know for sure is once its fitted and i can hear it myself, just don't want to spend my money if it barely sounds different from standard, but from what your saying fa11ows it gives a bit of a growl when you put your foot down which is all I'm after really so I'll have a think about it

Cheers

I don't care what anyone say's but this noise / bang and flame is awesome for 1.8T engine, Not a leon but it's twin:

IMO This is how an 1.8T should sound like:

The hybrid Golf sounds like what I have right now minus the 2step launch control/throttle cut (with standard conrods...no way!). The AWE Golf sounds a little tamer but still better than Milltek.

If you search youtube for "1994 Toyota Celica GT-Four WRC" my car is the second video down at an owners club track thingy , sound is crap but the car is very loud when on boost due to the screamer pipe, it scares small children, animals and old people :D I suspect I may miss the noise when I get rid of it.

how i personally figured out , what's loud or not or better was trying different set ups of the same car to see what suited me best ( in the days when i use to live at home rent free :( ) , first make i tried was scorpion cat back with blueflame down pipe and 200 cell sports cat, was alot better than standard but only made 6 bhp more than standard system , then tried miltek turboback with 200 cell sports cat (which cost a bomb) non resonated , made the same power and was a little louder than standard but was quiter than blueflame/scorpian set up, finally i tried john ashley 2.5" turbo back 1st with 100 cell sports cat which made 9 bhp more than standard and felt awesome in mid range , the took of the cat and made 12 more bhp than standard and got rid of the flat spot between gear changes and tailored made to my needs

Ovni, non-res Milltek or Blueflame will suit your requirements :)

Thanks, I was just a bit put off getting the milltek after reading Mo's posts about it being really quiet but then again he said he's used to jap cars so what's loud to him is probably really loud to me! It's hard I guess to make your own opinion based on others over the internet unless you've heard all the different set-ups for yourself (which I haven't).

If the non res milltek was a bit too quiet, could the back box just be replaced with an oval shape universal one with a smaller rear silencer? Sorry for the hijack, it is still on topic though :p

i think your right ovni, if its not loud enough, just a smaller backbox mated to the system should help.. or removing the middle box.

i've been reading this thread with interest, glad i made it now!

I think i will try a universal one or maybe get one custom made for me..

If you bought the Milltek and decided that it was too quiet, you could go to a custom fabricator and have them make a back-box that attaches to the Milltek mid-pipe :). It's not the mid-pipe in a Milltek that makes it quiet, it's the back-box but it's designed in that way and it's either what you want or not.
