With regards to the TCS kicking, i have come to the conclusion that the biggest factor with this is the tyres.

I had a brand new set of Pirelli Pzeros, then a Set of Bridge Stone S-03's then decided to put 2 Goodyear Eagle F1s on the front.

I very rarley see the traction control light come on, nailing it out of roundabouts where i just had very little traction before and lost all my LCR's power through loss of traction.

It made my brother laugh that on some roads.. albeit sometimes slightly damp roads the traction control light still came on through second.

Out of all the cars ive driven, then LCR seems a comptley differnt vehicle with decent tyres.

this is very true of most cars, you regulargy read in EVO how they rate the same cars on different tyres in a different way. FWD/4WD and RWD cars all behave differently on different tyres.

It could be that the bad experiences people have driving/riding in certain cars are due to skimping on tyres, or worn suspension etc.... and should be taken with this in mind. You're hardly going to grill the owner asking what state his tyres/shocks/bump stops/bushes are in after a ride eh!

Jeff, some good info there, does help in explaining the lethargic off boost characteristics of the coupe, and the strength of the VAG 1.8T with compression ratio's etc....

Check out pakers to compare

LCR & Fiat C 2.0 20v

My mate has a chipped Fiat C 2.0 20v and it is very very rapid! it would leave my standard 210bhp LCR for sh^t! Even if I had my LCR chipped I would be amazed if it gave that much more.

The fiat just pulls through all the gears.

I had an Ibiza with the mods below and ran a 14.7 at Crail, so I think its fair to say it was faster than an LCR. However my friend had a Coupe 20VT with just exhaust/decat/filter, and it totally inihilated my poor Ibiza.

From what I hear, the Coupe has a boost limiter in 1st and 2nd, and that would explain why the Ibiza got the jump at the start, but by 60mph the Fiat was pulling back and by 100mph I was just a rapidly disappearing shadow in his rear view mirror. Do not inderestimate these cars, very very quick and sound 20x better than anything I've ever heard! :)

Thats not actually true that they have a boost limiter in 1st and 2nd, just a common misconception

jump back into your 4 door shopping trolly mate, true style especially in yellow! yuk.

Apparantly, as standard the 20VT does have a system where the ECU monitors how quickly the revs increase. If the revs increase too quickly the ECU assumes the wheels are spinning and does reduce boost. If the car has been chipped or it's running a different boost controller then this will be removed. I never noticed it to be honest, and I didnt have a boost guage as standard so can't confirm it I'm afraid.

Why can't some folks on here ever resist the temptation of abusing others :censored:! If you can only think of something insulting to say, don't say anything at all! :blahblah:

I don't like the styling of the Fiat, but I'm not about to start slating it to someone who owns one. It's not fair and it's not representative of this community.

2 door 4 door who cares ?? aerodynamics are only really for 60 odd upwards - more so after 120ish

i know a 2dr coupe that is over 70yrs old and as aerodynamic as a brick that runs low 8 secs @ 170mph and not a turbo or a chip/injector in sight

but it is a black ford - and can go to tesco's shopping

Sorry to take this thread a bit sideways.......................

What really gets to me is when I accelerate and then have to take my foot of the throttle because of an obstruction that was not there a second ago (I am not a fool that floors it then stops etc) is when the TCS/ESP (not sure) kicks in and holds the rev's/acceleration at what it was when the system kicked in for a second. This is not pleasant when you need to break, has caused me to grit my teeth a couple of times!

hahah had this happen to me a couple of times nearly spanked a car up the arse, hate the way the revs take a couple of years to drop aswell

I didn't think this was ESP / TCS, I thought it was the fly-by-wire throttle, some glitch with the fancy software that cuts the throttle when the brake is applied. I have had it happen to me too and it is disconcerting.

Its the TCS kicking in! It happens where the wheels just start to spin and you and the TCS comes off the throttle at the same time! But for some reason the TCS seems to have priority and finishs off what it started by reducing power slightly rather than coming off the throttle alltogether!

The brakes still works though ;)
