Right - so you mount the 2 boxes in the engine bay, and then connect them to the battery & to each HID bulb ??

A bit different to that on mine - you have to drill a ~20mm hole in the back of the headlight cover to pass the additional wires through, and the ballasts take their power from the headlight connector - you unplug the existing bulb, pass the new harness through the new hole then plug it into the harness that comes with the HID kit into the original wiring, then fit the new "bulb" into the headlight.

Might be different on other kits though

One of my ballasts is skillfully mounted (tiewrapped :whistle) on the washer bottle, the other is fastened to the battery box at its top right hand corner.

its plug and play... the ballasts plug into the standard OE light bulb connections!

very very easy! :)

like phil says... u need to drill holes in the back covers to pass the wires thru.

and as for your skillfully mounting techniques... iv done virtually the same!

i changed the bulbs to 80W Philips. Slightly better. They had the Philips blue bulbs in stock but they were 55W - same as OEM so I didnt try them.

I had two options, though. At the shop I was offered a wiring harness that has two relays, basically to connect the headlights directly to the battery, and connect the headlight connectors to a relay. I thought i'd try the bulbs alone first.

The shop told me if I used the harness the lights would be much brighter, and the high beams would come on a lot faster. I have two Bosch relays here at home so I might try doing it myself.

J@mes, I've got angel eyes on my Leon. looks like you have too. Whats the deal with fitting a set of HID's in them. I think the standard lights are probably easyish based on my searches but not sure about the Angels.

Can you give me some pointers?

Mine wer useless when i first got it , but thats not uncommon for a new car the dealers PDI's suck normal stuff overlooked, tyre pressures to high and headlights incorrectly alligned ( they were crossing one another) best bet would be to pop to an MOT bay and get them to check them on a beam aligner and set them up properly. Mine ar miles better now and it was free .

Also, I'd avoid Marshall's like the plague. They're truly dire.

I had some guy at marshalls keep ringing me
They had a 53 plate leon with 15k for 10 grand on auto trader, obviously the car didn't exist,
however, this d1ck head kept ringing me
saying stuff like the LCR is a super car and they only ever made 600

i knew this was bull, but the funniest bit was when he reckoned they had sold 3 that week ...... so, only 600 made and you've sold 3 in a week
hmmm

next time he rang (2 weeks later) they only ever made 700
Wanted a stupid price for a LCR too

sales men should be replaced with vending machines.

[HIJACK]

Anyone any idea what this is?! Mine are driving me mental!

No squeels just clonks!

[/HIJACK]

As Brendy says just the pads moving in the caliper, it's not dangerous. My car did it but I can't say I found the clonk annoying....

TBH the dealer fix touted about seems like a pointless excercise to me because I can't say I really did that many miles in reverse gear to get annoyed about it ;).

If you want to check something take the pads out check the backing plates and add more copper grease
