the "width" size of the tyre has nothing to do with the tyre width at the rim, its only the width of the tyre. and even then the "width" size of the tyre is not necessarily the same if you measure the contact area of the tyre to the road.

if you look at road tyre sizes and racing tyre sizes the only difference in theory should be the height.

road size 225/40-18
mm width / percent height - rim size in inches
width: 225mm
height: 90mm equivalent to 637mm complete tyre height
rim size: 18"

racing size 210/650-18
mm width / mm height complete tyre - rim size in inches
width: 210mm
height: 96mm equivalent to 650mm complete tyre height
rim size: 18"

so the 210/650-18 is only a little bit higher then your 235/40-18 tyres, and some what higher then 225/40-18 tyres. so you get more topspeed in top gear/max rev.
not saying that you have the wrong size or anything only trying to explain the theory and numbers on paper.

Gulfstream is right you are wrong on this occasion.

What you say may logically make some sort of sense but race tyres are measured or sized differently overall, not sure how or why but i know they are as i have looked into this in a LOT of depth before. As gulfstream said the nearest race tyre to a 225/40/18 road tyre is a 210/650/18 tyre. Dunlop used to do this tyre in 210/640/18 which was fractionally closer but is no longer made.

Is hard the hardest compound available and do they do them in medium? Who did you order them off and how much did they cost, if you don't mind me asking??

They are in Soft - Medium - Hard to my knowledge. For a 1300kg car I believe hard to be the option. Deamontweeks at £219 a pop + shipping.

okay just my logic when i look at the numbers and calculate a bit, but it seams that this is not logical.

I stand corrected, sorry for the misleading statements.

No worries. Have a look at racechrono if you have droid. It's wicked!

did a try last night on a small road and did a improvised circuit and got some lap times and some trap times to see how it works, awesome app i must say.
this racechrono app will be nice when i go try my car at a trackday.

Was this plus vat [20%] as well? as Demon Tweeks quoted me £242.50+vat plus shipping today:scary:

HP tyres quoted £219.50 each b ut this is also plus 20% vat although they did offer free shipping/carriage.

Very impressive numbers, surely challenging for the most powerful LCR
Did you run with the slicks at the ring?
Also did you ever sort a baffled sump and if so which one did you run in the end?

Cheers, yes I run the INA kicked out sump but there are only baffles surrounding the pickup. Not in the front so when I run slicks I still get oil slushing up the lower breather. Something to fix this winter.

No slicks allowed on the ring so I ran Toyo R888 all around.
