For the electrical engineers out there, as long as you are pulling 12W / 5W using the formula...

Volts * Current = Power

12V * 418mAh = 5W
12V * 1000mAh = 12W

You will not trip the ECU to detect a fault.

There are some new items 1-4, 7-8 appear to be the new ones which would be really efficient. The others are only able to work since they draw the same current because there is such a large number of them.

I know the Vf of these new Seoul / Cree semiconductors is around 3.5 / 3.75 so if you run 3 in series, you would pull 11.25 volts to run them and they can be driven quite well, assuming there is enough heatsinking around as these puppies can get very very hot.

Just a thought, can you use VAG.com to disable the ECU bulb error. Then just use a w5w wedge LED's in the OEM socket? Or is a resistor still needed to protect the LED from the 12volts? It would be great to avoid resistors altogether.

Anyone know?

The leds,if does have resistor protection, brokes more fast becusa, when you start the engine,it have current peak....

gonna PM!About the price of the LEd´s!

I had put this on the site some time ago
parts list:
RS T3/W5 HOLDERS # 811-642 X 2

RS T3/W5 3LED LAMP # 336-003? or singleLED # 336-097

TWIN CORE CABLE lightweight a/r
take the side light lamp/cable out of the headlamp and using a fine screwdriver depress the cable sockets in the W5 holder remove sockets, thread your twin core cable into the two crimped sockets and bend back - allow about 500mm fly lead. push the socket crimps back into the W5 lamp holder. On both front wings you will see two punched holes of about 13mm dia the W5 holder just drop into these - thread the two fly leads per side up through these holes and solder the leads to the W5 holders push the holder into the body work and use the now redundant W5 lamp that you removed from the head light [this is now your dummy load!]. If you rembered the pos/neg of the sidelight socket fit the W5 LED to this socket turn on ign and the lamp should come on if not refit the LED 180deg round ,so changing polarity and the lamps will work [ you may have to turn off/on the car ign to reset the lamp sensors.
I run 6 led packs using this set out with no problems [ 3 in the side light and 3 in the main beam] per side. Hope this helps

dont even need a resistor to go around this, position lights is w5w so you get the led of your choice and save the standar bulb, buy another socket like the one you have in the headlamp and connect it in series and thats all you need to do

does anyone know where to buy the sidelight lampholders from so i can leds, or if the resistor way is easier can you tell me how to do it please.
