Well after owning my old green 8v Cupra for 3 years and over 50k miles without ever creating a RR thread I guess it's time to make one for the new Mk2 ibiza.

The old 8v had only 62k on it and one previous owner when purchased back in 2008 and only needed a new coil pack and regular service items during it's life with me.

It did well until being hit on the passenger side by a new driver who didn't give way at a roundabout. The car was sadly written off although thankfully without any hassle from her insurance, in the end I receieved exactly what I paid for the car 3 years earlier but at this stage it had 110k on the clock and was a bit worse for wear.

I bought the car back from the insurance company for the grand total of £150 and drove it as it was for another 6 months, all of the damage being purely cosmetic. In February 2011 the gearbox grenaded on the motorway and the car was finally scrapped.

A few weeks later I saw a tidy looking valver for sale nearby with only 68k on it and the next day the car was sat on my drive. There were quite a few things which needed fixing when I got the car, but a few trips to the scrapyard later and it was in good shape.

By far the worst issue was the pedal box which was on it's last legs and desperately needed replacing, luckily there was a low milage 1.4 sitting in the scrapyard and after 3 hours battling in the footwell a replacement box was found. After the hassle of removing the pedal box without dropping the steering column I decided it would be much easier to drop the column when doing the work on my car. This allowed the whole box to be removed including the pedals and springs which made reassembly much easier. Below shows the state of the old pedal box, the new one was heavily welded to hopefully ensure that the same problem never happens again.

As it sits today, with just under 73k on the clock:

So far it has had:
New cigarette lighter socket - old one was completely dead
New passenger air vent - original was broken
Mk3 Ibiza Cupra steering wheel
New gearstick and handbrake gaiters
Janspeed stainless exhaust from the cat back
Standard airbox refitted to replace the induction kit fitted previously

and probably much more which I have forgotten to add.

At the moment I would just like to add some 15 or 20mm rear spacers. I did buy some ebay specials but unfortunately the centre bore did not quite fit over the hub [:@].

Cheers. Yeah, the ebay ones were hubcentric but just didn't fit. Need to save for some better quality ones really.

As Ather's says great looking car you have!! . Very low mileage for the age aswell.

Any more plans for it??

Thanks for the comments, I wouldn't mind getting either a set of coilovers or matched shocks and springs but that will have to wait as I'd want a good quality set. It's not too noticable in the photos but the ride height is a bit tractor like, best to call it rally stance I guess .
