Launch Control - am I doing it right?

Hi all

Just tried to get launch control working a couple of times just see what it was like and not sure if it's working correctly.

I turned off ESC and then pressed the brake and throttle. The revs rose slowly and the console said launch active but the revs only went to 2.7k max.. I thought it was 4k?

Also a couple of times even though the ESC was set off the launch control didn't activate so when pressing the brake and throttle it was fighting against itself.

Were you in DSG sport?

I think Cupra mode automatically selects this.
However if you were already in Cupra when the car started you'll need to re select or at least knock the DSG shifter into sport.

The DSG resets after each journey regardless of which driver mode is currently selected.

That's my understanding anyway.

When I got it to work, I done the following:
Selected Cupra mode
Put the car into tiptronic mode
Pressed the ESC button for about 10 seconds until it pinged at me
Left foot on the brake
Right foot on the accelerator and it held the revs at 4k

Released the brake and was met with a lot of noise!

You need to plant the foot firmly on the break first and the gas slammed to the floor and held there.

Tried it again...ridiculously fast off the line but still launches with revs under 3k.

FWIW. A local magazine got quicker 0 - 100 km/h times not using LC, just nailed it off idle in Cupra mode.

I went out again and nailed it...foot on brake...then lightly on throttle. ..wait for the launch control active notice...plant it.. it went up to 4k then let the brake off.....OMG...it just hooked up and bolted off the line.. took me by suprise it was that quick. And the road was also damp with a few leaves the didn't seem to matter.

That surprises me about the traction especially in those conditions. In all the vids I've seen the LC seems pretty pointless in the FWD CUPRA.

Do you have any mods/upgraded tyres?

Never launched a FWD CUPRA personally.
Only ever tried it on the 4drive VAGs.
