I don't know mate, but i asked Grok (AI) and this is what it said........

Finding the exact manufacturer's documentation for the K03S-052 turbocharger (part number 53039880052) can be tricky since BorgWarner, the manufacturer of the K03 series, doesn’t publicly release detailed technical manuals or specs sheets like stud sizes directly to consumers. These are typically reserved for OEMs (like Volkswagen/Audi Group) or authorized distributors. However, I can provide you with the most accurate and practical information based on available data and common knowledge within the automotive and turbo enthusiast community.
For the K03S-052 turbocharger, the studs where it joins the exhaust manifold are typically M10 x 1.5 mm. This is the standard stud size used on the turbo-to-manifold flange for most K03 and K03S models in VAG 1.8T applications (e.g., Audi A3, VW Golf, etc.). The length of these studs is usually around 35-45 mm, though this can vary slightly depending on the specific manifold design or whether aftermarket components are involved.
Since you asked for the manufacturer’s documentation, I’ve searched for official BorgWarner resources, but they don’t publish detailed fastener specs online for individual turbo models like the K03S-052. Instead, here’s what I can confirm:
  • The K03S-052 uses a 4-stud flange to connect to the exhaust manifold.
  • The stud size (M10 x 1.5 mm) aligns with standard VAG 1.8T engine specifications, as this turbo was designed as a direct-fit OEM part (e.g., part numbers 06A145713D, 06A145713F).
  • This info is consistent across service manuals for vehicles like the VW Golf Mk4 or Audi TT 1.8T, which use this turbo.
If you need the exact documentation (e.g., a BorgWarner spec sheet), you’d typically need to contact BorgWarner directly through their customer service channels or an authorized dealer, providing the turbo’s part number (53039880052). Alternatively, a VW/Audi service manual for your specific vehicle model would list the fastener specs for the turbo-to-manifold connection.

Sounds convincing, but obvs a gamble.

I've ordered a k03s fitting kit from a turbo company on ebay that comes with the gaskets and studs with bolts so will see how that goes there is so much conflicting info out there it it hard to try and get a concrete answer
