Big weekend.

Thanks for the comments boys. There are so many little oem mods that models on the mk4 platform came with that Leon didn't!

Big things this weekend hopefully!
If everything arrives, I'll be fitting JOM coilovers, Cupra R powerflex top mounts, Powerflex front wishbone bushes, EGR delete and S3 strut brace! I've got to sort out some washers for the brace yet, but I have borrowed some aircraft nuts and bolts so far.

Can't wait to fit all of this, will definately be a busy weekend!

Another little update, I won some Fiat Coupe 20vT 4pot Brembo's, bought the adapters, so next week I'll do a little trial fit of them and put some pictures on here.

Doesn't look like I'll be doing the coilovers this weekend, as I don't think they'll come in time.
The top mounts came though! If I can't do them this weekend, then next weekend is pretty much guarenteed.
I ordered some 15mm hubcentric spacers for the front last night too, because I'm not sure wether the Fiat brembo's will clear my wheel.
Off to Halfords now for some spray paint, might see a blue cupra 180 with x5 alloys!

What you doing with the 312s when you get the Brembos on? ;)

If those aren't the right ones on that link, you can have mine in about 2 months, when is Ultimate Dubs? I found out why I wasn't impressed with my 312's, it was the hose not being tightened fully to the calliper, tightened it and theyre actually really good!

Yesterday I sprayed the S3 strut brace, and fitted it temporarily, because I can't get to the inboard holes until the struts are off next weekend.
Coilovers didn't come, neither did the brakes, so watch this space for them.
Fitted the EGR delete, the EGR valve was quite full of rubbish, but I've seen worse, the inlet manifold will come off at some point for a proper clean too, will be buying a dremel I should think.
15mm front spacers went on, not nearly as noticable as the rears, but it still brings the wheels flush with the arch.

That's great mate, cheers :) UD is on March 10th but to be fair if these ones don't fit then I'll just get my calipers refurbed in time and then take your setup off your hands ;)

Good work on the EGR delete, have you had chance to drive it yet? Does it feel any different to normal?

I'll keep you informed then! where is ultimate dubs, because thats probably the only show i'll be able to make it to as i'm in the desert nearly all year :/.
Yeah I have driven it with the EGR on, no difference until i blew the boost pipe off it going up a hill in 3rd! Shat myself lol, big bang and loss of revs, I thought the engine blew up!! Then I thought, it's still idling so it's a pipe. Tightened her right up now though.

Cheers mate :) It's in Telford at the international centre, it's a one day event but it's got a good vibe and there are plenty of decent cars in and around the centre itself.

Haha yikes! At least it was nothing serious. Contemplating the EGR delete or just clean mine off and then get it vagcom'd out.

I've spoken to a mate about UD, we're off to the desert in Oman in March, so I'm persuading him to go, he should go as he has a mk1 golf cab, and a polo 6n2 tdi, both lowered and various bits etc.
I personally think it would be better to get the Allard EGR delete pro kit, just had one delivered to base for the lad in Afghan, and it's a decent piece of kit! no midifying of the boost pipe, ie the origonal hose fits straight in. I've got a picture on my phone I'll upload.

I know, took long enough, I was waiting for the o ring, but I pinched the one out of the other kit that got delivered, and the seller is sending me another one to replace it FOC.
Yeah I had a light before any way, because the EGR was redundant, I pulled the vacumn hose off of the top of the EGR, It does seem to take a little while longer for the EML to show up though, it's getting mapped out soon any way, so I'm not really bothered. Cheers :) she needs a bloody good clean though!

Cool, tell him to get his arse down there and come and find us! :p

How much is the Allard pro kit? If you could upload it mate that would be cool, don't think I've seen one of them yet!

This is the difference between the two, tho lower longer one is the one I got from BruceR, with a boost hose that had already got the join cut off to slide over and jubilee clip it tight to the actual EGR delete pipe.
IMG_2084_zps858f1883.jpg

This is the pro kit, with my original hose. I'm actually really impressed with it to be honest, it was £85 delivered from eBay, and the quality is really good, the oem hose fits in really snug.
IMG_2096-1_zps9f851446.jpg

The original clip is used to secure it, mine is in my tool box in the car and I can't be bothered to go get it lol. It's a bit of a no brainer, it's £20 more, but then you can always put the EGR valve back on if you were going to sell the car etc....

Thats the one Chris has for his car. The seller is spot on aswell, we did it through my eBay, but Chris' paypal, and there were problems, the seller had to wait about 3 weeks for payment in the end, but didn't moan whatsoever after I'd explained the situation to him, and he has sent out another o ring as I pinched Chris' one, but this was sent free!

Just bought new Cupra R 323mm EBC drilled discs, and yellowstuff pads for £165 delivered. Considering discs are £200 on the website, and pads are £130 thats a steal!

Depending if the pads fit, which I personally don't think they will in the Fiat brembo's.... They'll be up for grabs, ALOT cheaper than EBC price (not advertising again just putting it out there)

Don't be surprised if you start to get cracks on those discs, I would have went for the slotted ones :p

I'm not going to go hooning round on them, and slamming the anchor when they're cold. Now my 312's are performing, I'd like the brembo's to be a little better but not uncomfortable, as it's only going to be a 200bhp diesel....

Anyway, this afternoon....
Took a trip down to TPS for some top bearings, came in at just under £11 inc VAT. Lovely.

The coilovers arrived, and I was quite surprised with the quality to be honest. So at 14;00 a friend and I started taking mine apart, we'd done it twice before, and actually left copper grease on the various nuts and bolts, so it all came away really nicely.
This is her sitting on OEM suspension.

Here's the difference between cupra standard top mounts, and Cupra R powerflex ones.

Fitted, (still need one nut and bolt each side for strut brace)
IMG_2109-1_zpsb9c1978e.jpg

Here is how she sits, went on about a 20 mile drive, threw her into a few corners, there is a vast improvement to the way the steering feels, and the ride doesn't feel mush different from normal.... little bumpiers, but I like it. The knock has gone too :D FINALLY!! It'll go lower this weekend, front about 6-8mm and the back about 4-6, until I can get a better sump and new ARB.

Here is a quick one of the de cat, really good welding! The only thing, is the pipe is a little smaller than normal, so may stop the flow of gases exiting a little bit?
IMG_2117_zpsdccb8282.jpg

Just a quickie, got a bonnet seal coming tomorrow, and I'm going to order some rear discs and pads, and finally get them on! I think?!
Maybe not, forgot I have a remap and brake lines to pay for off Bill!
