Has not happened again since knocking it down to setting B. Ask Awesome if they recommend any and see if they'll get the plugs in for Saturday.

You can ask them to check if it needs the update. I am thinking it could be the plugs on mine as I have done 9K already and some one was saying that the plugs need be changed every 10K on these cars or am I mistaken?

I know what you mean. I am quite bewildered tbh by this management light story. Will have a nice chat with the techie on Friday. Hopefully he is a little clued up and can shed some light on this subject. Otherwise I will just get a set of plugs off them and get it fitted at awesome.

It's not covered under warranty, the plugs only have 6 months or 6000 miles warranty. Don't worry I ain't finished yet I would have phoned Seat customer care today but i didn't get the car back till late tonight.

mate whoever you are listening to is taliking crap , worst thing is you believed them and forked out

if your car is under warranty and your plugs have failed then its covered under your warranty , in the leon they are supposed to last 40k miles and i have been through 3 sets from failing in 3 years and 50k+ miles all covered under warranty.

I had the misfire problem recently, took it to the Seat dealer in st albans (all mods still fitted) and they did the work under warranty for me. 4 new spark plugs and the ecu update. Went on the phone to Seat UK while there and they said to use at least 97ron petrol etc. But after update car is running superb again, so hopefully yours will be the same mate.

I spoke to Seat customer services today and explained what had happened and said that it was a joke that the plugs needed replacing after only doing 9900 miles and even more disgusted that they weren't covered under the warranty. They said that plugs are classed the same as brakes and clutches and thus only have a 6 month /6000 mile warranty. This was also printed nicely on my invoice for the replacements. The person i spoke to did say that she would speak to dealers to see if they would write off the labour involved and come back later in the day and she was as reliable as the spark plugs....[:@]

Before i rang Seat i thought i would just give VW a call to see what there stance on spark plugs was and there policy is exactly the same. Whether this is a new policy under the warranty agreement (or not in this case) on spark plugs who knows?

All in all it sounds like the VAG Group don't have much hope for the reliability of the components they use!!

Yes, tuned cars need to change spark plugs alot earlier than stock cars, personally i change mine every 7500km, because last set i kept for 12.000km and i started having missfires.

NGK Platinum, they are double platinum laser cut and trust me they are the best money can buy for our 1.4tsi's.

Previous time i was changed them @ 10.000km and didnt have missfires, this time i kept them for 12.000km but i also used alot of Octane booster that ruinned my 3rd cylinder spark plug, it came out pitch black lol, my mechanic went wtf are you doing hahaha. I had missfires i change spark plugs and the problem was resolved.
My mechanic was like never keep em for more than 10.000km again.

Good to know and understandable changing them regularly, especially when there are modifications to the standard motor.
