Ritey!

Had a good look today. Put it on axle stands and moved the wheels and it seems the knockings coming from my coilover  When you turn the steering wheel the spring pivots and makes a knocking noise. Any ideas on a fix??

Got another problem, im loosing oil through the oil filter seal. Changed the filter and its still happening.

Changed the top mounts a couple of weeks back as i thought it mite be that. Its made no difference. The noise is definatly the spring as it spins round. Its a twangy noise.

are you running fk's ??

if so could be the same prob i had, the metal cap that the top mount sits on was not machined out enough on mine, when i turned the spring was juddering across the shock and not moving freely

if filed the inside of the cap out a bit more and it's been fine since

shock needs to come out, top mount off and then the cap under that is prob what's causing the noise

take a file to the inside of that cap untill it fits over the shock without being tight and can spin freely

hopefully that'll cure it for you

Roly your a star ;)

Wasnt exactly what you said but you got me thinking.

Put the car on axle stands, removed the wheels, slacked off the springs and attact them with pressure washer. After that dried them off and coated them in a dry lube. No more knocking :D

Good thing we don't own a Peugeot then! It seems most of them spend more time being fixed than being on the road :D

So what's the benefit of coilovers? That they're adjustable so you can basically change your height to suit what you want?
