Reverse camera – steering lines question

Hi,

I’m considering getting a used ‘23 Ateca Xperience.

In some videos I watched, it seems that the steering lines on the reverse camera do not move when you turn the steering wheel. It’s just static. On some others, however, the yellow line on the camera does move according to the steering wheel movements.

Can someone please comment what’s the deal with that? Which models come with the “dynamic steering lines” and which ones not? Having only static lines on the camera is kind of lame and seems like a cheaper solution than most camera systems available in other car brands today!

Unfortunately, no picture of the actual reverse camera is provided for the Ateca I’m considering, so I’d need to see it in person, but it’s a bit far.

Thanks

Probably have to ask what it's got. I have the 2017 model with top view / 360 it's got bendy lines (the bottom one above). At the time they sold the extra topping with the cars, you bought what you wanted with or without, choose from a package options etc. Now they tend to be sold inclusive of package (not an option unless you buy the different model up or down) so you have to find out what is in the package.

What's up or down can be tricky, is the FR better than Xperience etc. How you value what is in each package. Some of the names are just marketing but that's a value judgement. The seats were quite different in the early Atecas, quite uncomfortable in my view compared to the Xcellence and the seats were not an upgrade option either. If you didn't have the Xcellence which was the forrunner of the Xperience you were at a lower comfort level but we don't have to say that too loud.

The Cupra Ateca brought in all the luxury which had been dropped once they stopped you buying the luxury options but you got bigger engines, wheels and the Cupra bling in the luxury version. You could get use to the bling...

So you need to follow East Yorkshire Retrofits post above, the build codes of the car. It will / should be a simple task for the dealer to look it up on Vag systems and tell you which reversing camera system is fitted.

People with Tarracos updated to the highline view. That's on that bit of the board. I was going to shuffle the cars and get a Tarraco but by that stage the luxury items had been dropped from sale as an extra. The segmentation of Cupra brand had already started although there was never a Cupra Tarraco. Decided I would stick to the Ateca with all the luxury bits you could buy at launch rather than the lesser Tarraco but more room... then Cupra Ateca was subsequently launched.

@cairus Ah, that sucks that it’s equipped with the basic “static” camera. A bit disappointing, but I really appreciate you helping me check!
