you can also use a centre punch and just beat it into the centre of the terminal to keep the wire place... ive always heated the terminal with a torch too and lashed a good amount of solder in there too mind :D

my mates been eyeing up this thread too for his mk1 golf with an ABF hes building, hes also highly impressed

is that an FIA cut off? It doesn't look like its got the pins on the bottom? Only reason I say that is if you literally connect the power through the switch and pull the switch it won't actually cut the car. You need to cut out the ignition circuit as well, as a few guys at Combe found the other week when the scrutineers tried to pull there cut off cables and nothing happened lol

Thanks fella! If he needs any advice just tell him to pm me!

I will probably "tin" the cable and then put a good amount inside the terminal too.

No it's not an FIA approved one, the idea of this cut off switch is to save me opening the boot to remove the cable from the battery all the time! And it's also not a "solid state isolator" like the big isolator sticker says I've just ordered that set for the smaller sticker lol.

Looking good, Dave. I bet it's a beast with the gearbox in it! I've just ordered a non FIA battery cut off for mine, as I only need it for cutting the power now the car's not my daily and it's just sitting around. Where did you order your 0AWG cable from? I'm going to relocate my battery back into the boot, and don't fancy using the 4AWG like I had last time.

lol just seen this!

Didn't go fella, needed someone to take the Passat up like you know but couldn't find anyone willing to drive up to Combe for 7:30am lol.

Wanted to do Cadwell Park this weekend but this weather is putting me off with the tyres I have! Want to do a trackday to kill off my current V70's and I will order a set of Speedline Challenge alloys and fit the V70's but in the hard compound and then keep my Compo's and fit my Goodyear F1's to them for wet track use.

Ordering some wheel studs tomorrow to and got some carbon fibre trim to replace bits on my dash :D

I ordered the "heavy duty" cable from Demon Tweeks which turned out to be 0 AWG (9.5mm), which I thought was going to be bigger than my current cable but wasn't! And the cut off switch is much bigger than I thought and a bit too big for where I wanted to locate it (where the mirror adjustment switch was) even ordered a carbon fibre plate to replace all the window switches. But having played about with the cut off switch it would surely where the mounting holes away in the CF plate after time! So I've sent it all back, would like to have a fighter pilot type toggle switch but I would need to order a soild state isolator and you taking about £200 just for that..... All i want a cut off switch for is because I can't be arsed to open my boot all the time lol.

If you go on eBay and search for "car battery cable" 0 AWG cable is 20mm2 and 00AWG is 40mm2 - this is the cable I want to use! Looking at the pics they both look like the same cable (markings and print) that I had from Demon Tweeks but for £3 cheaper per metre!

Well I've ordered my wheel studs and hopefully if it's dry towards the end of the week I can fit the studs, sort out my carbon fibre trim for the dash and change the oil.

Thanks for that info, Dave. I'll have a look into it soon as I want to relocate the battery. Still not sure what to do about a cut off for mine either. It's finding a place that's the problem.

it dont matter how small it is dave, any new bits that make it to your car are worth seeing!! ;)

I have a spare piece to so if people like the first one to pm can buy the spare one :D

And Martin no problem, if you want send me a link of the cable first but 20mm2 or 40mm2 will be right! That cut off swtich I think you would need a metal plate to mount it... damn soild state ones are silly money! With them you can use normal toggle switches

Cheers, Dave. I'll give you a PM before I order any cable. I need to get a box sorted first anyway. I was thinking about drilling through the dash somewhere to mount one but I might have to re-think.

See my old box was up for sale! Would have been perfect for a 20vT track car lol. I found that cut off switch hard to turn so I could see it causing a bit of stress on two small carbon fibre holes... maybe the same for a plastic dash??? I see on Bill's Badgerwagon that in had it on the dash with a aluminium looking plate mounted to the dash!

If you keeping the boot lock on the tailgate it isn't a problem, on my battery I have wing nuts so can remove the live cable pretty easy! It's just a bitch to open my boot lol!

Well the weather as finally been tidy so I managed to get out and fit the carbon fibre panel to my dash!

Performance Trim sent me out two pieces which they cut to the measurements I wanted,

Here's how they arrived and after I filed the edges and drilled the holes needed.
